ok...so i just got my can of general los today...i opened it up...smells wonderful...i like the smell of snus. funny thing...the expiration date is today 4/5/10...i believe its today because the can says "loose" not "los" so im assuming they are using the traditional dating method

it looks like used moist coffee grinds. i have a syringe that i cut the tip off and started using the syring like an icetool.

now...im not sure if its me...the syringe or the fact that its close to the expiration date and maybe a bit dry...not sure since its my first can of los ever so i dont know what to compare it to...it fell apart very easily.

moving on....i handbaked it..my god it was messy.....bits of los everywhere...like i was a 2 year old. it took awhile but i made a nice size small pris. i placed it under my lip and am currently enjoying it while i type this.

ok.....i noticed i cannot swipe the los...im sooo used to doing it with pouches. if i swipe...i get bits on my tounge so i just lightly touch it with my tounge...so far so good.

it feels a little bit mushy and sometimes get loose bits falling from it.

questions:

will an icetool pack it better than me handbaking? will it stay put better?

i know i probably need more practice handbaking....but...i dont find handbaking to my liking and its not very practical. i would need to wash my hands before and after and it is inconvenient. i believe an icetool would be essential. i have a prismaster coming in but i read that it makes the pris too wide. i made mine about the width of a pencil and found it to be perfect.

ive watched every video and read almost every post i could find on the net reguarding the icetool handbaking and just working with los in general

I'm glad you started this thread asidrave. I'm putting a big order together from getsnus, and it includes some Los and a prismaster. So far my los list is: Ettan, Roda Lacket, Grovsnus, Skruf Stark, and Oden's Classic Cinnamon. I am looking forward to the Grov Los the most, but I'm not sure how hard it will be to bake. The Roda Lacket and Ettan are for starting and getting the hang of Los because I read they are easy to bake with.

Woohoo....looks similar to my first impression. I have a few recent can dates that are mm/dd/yr, but most are dated dd/mm/yr. If that's the case, you have another month, which is most likely the case. Anyway, you're doing good. The biggest issue I had (and still do sometimes) isn't using, but getting it back out in as few a pieces as possible :p. It'll all get better and easier in time :).

@skrymr.....your order is the same as mine. I ordered the 5+2 roda lacket Los deal because I really like the portions, heard they bake easy too and it's a great deal to boot

@tv.....yea getting it was a little bit of a pain. I hooked my finger and scooped it out. Then had to rinse my mouth to get out the loose bits

im really getting used to los.

i can make the size i want with the prismaster....i then have to shape it abit. still waiting on my icetool

i place it between upper lip and gum and let is sit.

then lightly squeeze upper lip to gum to help form it.

after a while the los get a thin coating...i then swipe tounge to los for taste every once in awhile.

so for been working great....it a different animal in reguards to portions

Something I do is wet it after it's been in for a while. I normally have a bottle of H2O with me all the time, so after a while of sitting in my check and possibly not getting all the available nic, I take a swig and hold it while I tighten my cheek muscle to keep it in place. That saturates the prilla, just gotta keep the cheek muscles tight long enough to re-compact it ;).
