Hello all
I guess you already read similar questions in ECF. Mine is porobably similar but with some "family drama" involved. :)
Me and my wife started vaping with Greensmoke. Then I found ECF and discovered whole new world of vaping.
To make it short: I ordered new kit from Smokeless (I like it very much) and some ejuices from Vaporgod. Yesterday I received my first liquids. I cant vape any of the juices - it's like inhaling cheap strong perfume with added candy concentrates. (Juices are Ry4 and English toffee 60/40 pg/vg 11mg). I don't want to blame the vendor, I think it needs steeping (I hope).
Anyway, I feel very dissapointed and I think my wife will ask me to abandon all this ejuice thing and go back to Greensmoke cartos! this is how bad liquid was for us. I was advocating using juices for weeks and when we tried our first order last night expression on her face was "see ? I was telling you it will be crap". Lucky for me she liked some prefilled Volt cartos that came with the kit, so I have some time for the maneuvers :).

Well I decided to let it steep, hope that perfumey taste will go away, fingers crossed. So I read some threads about steeping and found few about accelerated steeping and because of my "time pressure" I want to try this method, at least on one juice and let others steep in normal way.

As I don't have a microwave I guess I have to use hot water method. Have anyone tried it? can you please give me some details? how long to keep in hot water (caps off?)? how many times I must do it? do I have to put juice back to dark place after hot water?

Thank you

P.S. I also ordered some other juices from v4l (wow 555 and RY4), some Bluemist samples, Dekang usa mix from Madvapes, Frisco and Tampa from Vaporstation, GJ4, DK-tab from Goodejuice and Backo, Virginia from BWB. I bet I spent all my Chistmas bonus on juices :) I hope at least one will work without steeping :)

GJ4 is very good and not perfumey at all. I bought the 32 mg and cut it slightly with PG to make it more cartomizer friendly since its a 50/50. You can thin any juice a little with distilled water if you find that they are too thick for cartomizers if thats what you are using.

I feel for you, many juices are too perfumey to me thats why I started DIY so soon out of the gate. That and to save money. I am sure you will find something tolerable in that bunch you ordered. Tell your wife finding a juice you love is one of the hardest things for some vapers.

To be honest I don't get the steeping thing unless its a genuine tobacco brew. The juice should be ready in a few days-- probably the amount of time it took to get to you. And frankly steeping it is not going to change the smell much. Your taste may change and you might find it better later but to be honest this steeping term is used alot around here and I don't get it. I DIY and vape my juices the same or next day. Two days tops. Tobaccos I believe take longer so maybe this juice will air out and the smell will diminish.

I got a DK Tab a few weeks ago my guy vaped it and shouted "Cat Pi$$"" I really feel for you this is a trial and error thing.

I have never tried the heating method, but someone will come along that has. Guess it works as I've seen it mentioned here often.

If I get something that smells to funky, I just pop the top and dripper top off and set aside for a day to a few. It may darken the juice a bit b/c of the oxygen hitting the nic liquid, but it will really improve the flavor and aroma. ETA: Don't forget to put them somewhere that no people or pets will knock them over.

Sounds like you have some more good ones coming, so once they get there, just cap these up and put them away a few weeks or even months, and then try them. They may taste much better to you then.

I don't have much of an answer for you for faster steeping. I do have some feed-back for the flavors though.

I smoked Winstons for 11 years, with a few years of Camels in there. The only 'tobacco-y' flavor that I liked at all was RY4, and then only certain vendors and on certain voltages with certain ohm attys. Fast forward 6 months of vaping. I don't like the RY4 anymore, I'm hooked on Spearmint, Peppermint and Root Beer. Why? I couldn't really tell you.

The list that you produced is very tobacco-flavor heavy, and I'd advise against that entirely. Yes, there are people that like the tobacco flavors. I find them to be very perfume-y and just not all that palatable .

I'd suggest that you see about other flavors to try. I'm a fan of Madvapes, they've got a pretty solid line-up of liquids and their pricing is down right reasonable. I've gone through quite a bit of their spearmint/rootbeer/ultramint. Avoid tobacco flavors though, that's my advice.

Thanks for the replies.

Xavier, I thought I will enjoy tobacco more because my favorite greensmoke cartos were only tobacco flavors and they didnt taste too chemical, that's why my next batch of juices are heavy on tobacco. Volt prefilled tobaccos were good tho, Cowbow and desert joe.

shilohcalista, thansk to ECF I found that high PG liquids are good for cartos so most my juices I'll be getting are 80/20. Also as you mentioned DIYing tobacco flavors can you please give me some quick links on good tobacco recipies you tried already and worked?

5vz, I removed dripper comletly and put them in the dark place on the top shelf in the storage room overnight, I guess I have to put caps on now right? or leave it open for a week, I know it will reduce nic level but I don't really care as long at it will help to wash away perfumey flavors?

wicked, sure thing, I let you know once I try my new juices.

Snipped for space:

You can leave the caps off as long as it takes for that perfumey smell to go away. If you smell them today and they smell vapable, give one a try. If not ready, smell again tomorrow. I've gone as long as a week, but that was a China liquid that smelled like fish sauce, yuck! It finally got vapable. I don't know if it reduces nic level or not. I never put them in a dark place either, just on the kitchen counter out of way. Lucky I haven't knocked entire bottles over yet.

If you get some of the other juice today and like it, just cap these up and set them aside for a later date. (For some reason that aging works too. I'm not a chemist so I don't know why, lol.) Don't want to forget them in the storage room for several months with no lid.

When and if you decide to DIY, there is a ton of info on these two forums below- start with the stickies. Another advantage to buying some flavorings to have on hand is you can modify a juice you don't like. I recommend high desert ecigs, ecigexpress or onestopdiy for DIY.

Bottom line is if it taste super crappy to start with, steeping wont help enough to make it vapable. Steeping will certainly take the edge off but its not a miracle cure. However all is not lost! first off ya gotta know how a juice is made. to make a tobacco flavor they are not milking cigs into a bottle lol its all chemicals that approximate what some guy who may not even smoke things a cig taste like. It might not even be the taste itself but the undertones or overtones they choose to impart.

the best bet right now would be to pick up a flavoring to mask the taste. i highly suggest either cinnamon or clove as they are really over powering. just add a couple of drops to your juice and shake well. It may not be the best but if you can make crap taste like cherries i think the latter would be more vapable.

Picking a vendors juice does not have to cost a arm and a leg, but picking the right one is not always easy. Ask around so many of us here have tried just about any juice you can come up with. Myself i send everybody to thevaporroom.net their prices are good and i like the juice.

If your looking for a tobacco flavor, well i cant really help much i have not tried any i like. I have heard that pinkspot vapor makes a dead on cig flavored juice. hope it works out for you my friend.

remember friends dont let friends vape bad juice :)

Not to move u backwards but did u try the green smoke flavor max carts? When I first switched from green smoke I had a hard time finding flavors that tasted as good as those carts. High caliber killa vanilla and cinnamon bun finally convinced me I was on the right track. Unfortunately it's alot of trial and error. Green smokes absolute tob is still the only tobacco I have ever liked. Good luck! Glad u found ecf!

Thanks for your help guys.

Ok, Todays shipment of wow 555 from V4L saved the day! no perfumey taste, no chemicals just plain 555. I'm vaping it as I type :) . But I didn't like v4l RY4 it tastes something chemical, I put it off for a rainy days.

Regarding my original question - well, I don't expect 100% miracle from steeping, I just want to try everything to cure dodgy liquids. But now as we have some juice to vape and the positive fact that you can buy liquid, open bottle and start vaping same day is uplifting, my faith has been restored :) I will let steep my other juices and forget about it, I might add some cinnamon flavor as Jerry suggested.

I didn't try GS flavormax and if they are better then normal carts I guess it's a good thing I didn't try them :)

sadly its a crap shoot with juice. Seems like every vendor makes there own line and most of it is nasty. But on the good side of things, taste do change. juice that i could not smoke in a standard atty taste great in a LR atty. Just keep searching and when you find a vendor you like it will be worth it all.

I second that. I have tried many from there and like the Turkish Tobacco. The vanilla custard is excellent. Only one of the flavors there I found to be a perfumie, chemically taste and that was the green apple. Otherwise the others were all vapeable.
