I get strange looks to no end but never hassled. If I said it was just a ecig they only ask things like what its called and where did I get it. I was puffing in a church that was not in service and a old lady said to another that she thought smoking was not allowed. So I said what I always say and she only wanted info after that. Some people are just ignorant and hard headed. Sounds like your deal. Nice avatar by the way. Technically we should be against one another on this lol. I always win.

Back in my pipe smoking days, the only time I would ever get that hand wave fake cough was when I was walking with an unlit, unloaded pipe in my mouth. If I was actually smoking my pipe I would get compliments on how good the smoke smelled. I was in my home town during a festival once and I actually had a line of folks following me with most commenting on how nice it was to smell pipe tobacco.

Yah, take Jtcp's lavatube to the same bar again, and then see how many of them think its a crack pipe this time...and then get back to us'.

Did your PV by any chance look like a real cig? You might try something like this. Doesn't look like a cig at all, and also makes stupid people kind of silent. Oh, and wear a leather Harley jacket.

I started vaping and not one exhale later a lady behind me is yelling "Hey you can't smoke in here!" I turned around and calmly replied "I'm not." and continued vaping.

I am thinking that the negativity started here.

A short explanation and showing of the device may have created a few converts instead of enemies.

Sometimes though when you turn your back on a barking dog you just get bit in the ...! Not all dogs or humans are all bark.

Also, just because someone doesn't know about or doesn't care about something does not make them stupid. Most vapers are ex-smokers so I don't understand why so many vapers talk about smokers like they are beneath them and are ignorant or stupid just because they aren't doing the same thing and switching to vaping. Some people smoke because they want to smoke and have no interest in vaping. I can understand why some people might get annoyed by someone getting to sit at the bar and vape while they have to get up and go out in the cold to smoke. The OP had permission to do it so it was his choice to make but I understand the frustration of the other patrons in the bar. I'm glad that I switched to vaping over smoking but I certainly wouldn't look down on someone for smoking.

Nonsense. Annoyance isn't an excuse. There's little daylight between stupid and willfully ignorant. She was told he wasn't smoking. She didn't care. She saw what she thought was smoke and expected him to act as if it was. She had every right not to care about something but, in that case, she should have kept her trap shut. Frustration and annoyance don't count for squat. She was stupid. She acted stupid. Period.

So, then you explain to them what it is, or if they're acting hostile, you tell them it's a medical device for your respiratory condition. That shuts them up every time.
