My first NET & DIY juice attempt. Good but not great.

Today I finally got (most of ) the ingredients for an e-juice. On the parcel courier arrived my 100% pure VG and PG. Distilled water from the pharmacy and Samuel Gawith "Perfection" —one of my favorite "Balkans". I started by packing a 50ml tequila tumbler with the baccy, just to get an idea of the proportion. Then I assembled in the kitchen assorted graduated recipients from my darkroom, 20, 5 & 3ml syringes, a half liter pitcher, a 100ml graduate and also a 10ml -very precise- one. Turned out to be the most necessary.



Then I placed the "Perfection" on a small oven resistant cup and covered it with VG (retrospectively, maybe I should have used PG). It took 100ml of liquid to cover the weed adecuately. I felt it was too thick and added 20ml of distilled water testing in increments of 10ml. The consistency improved.



Then I stirred for about five minutes and went to the microwave. 2 flashes of 10" ea. brought the soup to about 60°C. Some 10' later it had only dropped 10° to 50C°.



I took a sample with the syringe to check color. It was a dark tan but far from the deep brown-black I hoped to get for an intense taste.

I let it rest until it reached ambient temp and then about half an hour later, getting impacient, I decided to filter some of the soup to test it. For this I used a spoon and a strainer passing the strained liquid into a 20ml syringe into which I had stuffed a few make-up removing cotton pads my wife gave me rolled up tight. It resulted in overkill as it sequestered 8/10 of the 10ml I had strained.






Here you see the small yield I got from the original 10ml. Twice as I thought I needed in any case, as my goal for tonight was only a 10ml 70/30 sample including 20% of the pure VG based extract.

Findings:

My original proportions were all off. The juice was bland and without any punch. Zero throat hit. I dumped about 2ml and added another milliliter (1ml) of extract that I still had and 1ml of PG to top the dropper flask. Better but still very bland. I emptied the bottle into a small tumbler and added yet another milliliter of PG. It improved but is still mild. Tomorrow I'll do another batch with much more extract, probably 40% and skip the VG. Just add 60% of PG; see what happens.

I cannot get liquid nicotine here (I'll try to import some either from the US or China by mail) but my feelings are that this is not the issue. May be I'll make another extract with PG, see what gives.
