Hi All,

Just trying my first post. I smoke cigars more than cigarettes. I became fascinated by vaping and e-cigarettes and e-cigars after I read the Wall Street Journal article earlier this month. I haven't tried any of the MANY options available yet. This forum has been quite informative and educational.

I see pleny of business opportunity in this industry. So far in my research, I found mainly online vendors. I heard that some 7-11 stores are carrying e-cigs in some states. I am wondering if someone were to start a retail vapor shop (like a cigar store), if there would be any interest among people that already started vaping. Would you rather go to a "vapor shop" or "e-cig store" and try out the various companies' PV's (there! I used my first industry abbreviation)? This would give everyone a chance to decide real time, instead of ordering them on-line with only having word-of-mouth recommendations and bothering about returning them if you don't like them, etc. The cost would be a little more than if you were to buy them on-line for giving you the comfort of talking to someone experienced about the product and for personal service, etc. The shopkeeper would also repair or replace any equipment that you are having problems with, etc. You would have instant access to your favorite product instead of ordering and waiting for it, just like a real cigarette or cigar store. Let me know your thoughts.

It would be nice to have an informed vape shop to visit instead of ordering online. However, I doubt that will happen in my area since I pretty much live in the boondocks. There are many things people can go to the store for and buy that I cannot find in any store in my area which forces me to do a lot of purchasing online, so I'm very much used to it.

Howdy! and welcome to the ECF

i bought my first e-cig at a mall.....and it was overpriced, shop on-line and just compare. that is the reason i only buy on-line now.
i am not against somebody making money but having to pay too much would force me to search elsewhere. That said, i am not opposed to paying a little more for the convenience and customer service, it would be nice to be able to get nic juice or maybe atomizers or cartomizers locally. i really understand about overhead, but i don't like getting ripped off. i will never pay 60$ for 30ml nic juice again.

I was made aware of ecigs (Blu) through an ad on Facebook, but never tried them until I saw a coworker using them, and he answered all of the questions I had. That was my first kit and mistake. After tons of research both here and at other vendors' forums, I finally found that the 510-style attys and eGo batteries are the best for me. That's until my Prodigy v3 gets here. ;-)

A local shop would be nice, but many have extremely high markups due to the lack of demand (from what I've heard). It would be hard to start up a store that could compete with the prices and quality of most online vendors. IMO, one would have to start a small chain of stores just to recoup costs and build a large customer base, while staying on the level with online competition.

Edit: Post #5, finally!

Hi welcome to ECF. I agree there is a real market opening up, but until we know what legal problems may come from the FDA and their witch hunt, it likely isn't going to happen. Also people are more comfortable then they used to be ordering online with secure sites. It is hard for a brick and mortar store to compete price wise with an online store due to overhead costs. Also the kiosks that do exist at the moment are known in the vaping community as selling inferior products at astronomical prices. Overcoming that stigma in my opinion would be difficult.

If local store attendants were as versed & intelligent in vaping as the ECF community, then sure I'd go there! It may take a few years, but it'll happen. One day I can see stores like they have for contraband in good ol Cali. Experts to talk to with a large assortment of brand juices and PV's to try. A little social room to discuss your favorite concoctions with other customers. Ahhhh, a little piece of heaven on Earth...

I agree, but $60 for 30ml is crazy! Sorry you had to go through that.

WELCOME TO THE FORUM! I just joined as well, hope vaping works out for you!

I would trust a well established store over a kiosk any day though. Kiosks, IMO, are temporary stores where the owners really aren't going to stay in business for the long run. Which is why there are more around during the Christmas season than any other time of the year.

I totally agree.
