I work with a guy who got pretty sick in December. He had pneumonia and had to get chest Xrays, then a CAT scan. That was enough to get him to stop smoking. I told him about e-cigs, and he had already bought a 901 "pen" style kit. I let him try my REO, and he was interested, but was making do with his 901.

Well, he lost his 901 yesterday, and asked me about getting a REO. He said he might have to buy some smokes to tide him over. I didn't want that to happen, so I parted with one of my Grands, some Cisco attys and let him borrow two AW IMRs and my old charger until he could order batts and a charger for himself.

It feels weird to be missing my other Grand, but it's a really good feeling to help someone stay off cigarettes. He had to back away from the REO after a bit--he was getting too much vape. He kept saying "THIS is like a real cigarette." It was fun to watch, but I did warn him to take it easy.

Thanks. I understood exactly what he was going through. I quit smoking on Jan 6 2011, so I could relate.

It's funny, when I first came to ECF, I wanted something as "cig-like" as possible. I was poking around the Forums, and stopped here to see what a REO was. They were being praised in seemingly every thread I looked at. Well, Gil--Unsure--must have seen me on-line and looking at the threads and sent me a PM asking if I was interested in a REO. I admitted that I didn't even know what a REO was. I was just trying to understand what everybody was talking about. I was struck by how considerate it was for someone to reach out to me--an obvious newbie with a handful of posts to my name.

In short order I wanted more than my "cig-like" PVs, which I still use (BTW) in discreet circumstances. I tired a bargain bottom feeder to see if I was indeed a "bottom feeder person" and it turned out I was. That brought me here, were I read, and read and read some more, partly out of trying to learn about so many different things--attys, batts, cartos, VG vs PG and partly to pass the time because this was in the dark days of the Great REO Shortage of early '11.

I finally got my REO and more have followed. I understood what all the fuss was about. Now I couldn't imagine being without at least one, and feel comfortable having more-LOL.

So I've come full circle, and it was a great feeling to be able to pass on what so many of you have taught me to someone else who needed a hand. It's one more benefit of quitting smoking, and it's as at least rewarding as any of the others that I have experienced.

Very heartwarming, thank you for sharing :) - cheers Mr. White :toast:
