Ordered Thursday afternoon, free shipping, delivered today, Saturday. OK, I am just down the road from Halo, about 20 miles (if that) away in New Jersey, but I am very pleased about how quickly the order was shipped.

Got the G6 starter kit, midnight blue, 1 auto battery and one manual, with 5 carts of Tribeca plus 5 blank carts with a variety sampler that includes Tribeca, Malibu, Sub-Zero, Turkish, Belgian Cocoa.

Read the manual and was disappointed I had to charge the batts for 8 hours then came here and found out, nah, not really, just start vaping right out of the box. OK, I am going to give them an 8 hour charge but there is no reason not to use a Lithium battery even if isn't fully charged.

I am not completely new to vaping. A few years back I bought a Joy 510 and used that for about 3 weeks before my dog decided the carts (well, not really "carts" since the atomizer was a separate piece) were really yummy doggy treats and chewed them all up. I went right back to analogs and just decided to try again a few weeks ago after I saw a friend with a V2, but I did my own research and decided on Halo. My friend has a V2 but uses Halo juices so I figured why not just get them all in one place, plus Halo being right here in NJ sort of clinched it.

First impression right out of the box, using the auto battery: Terrific, especially when compared to the 510. I love the rubbery feeling finish and the quality look to it. The vaping is even better. I was told you had to "prime" an auto battery by taking a few short puffs before a long puff, but I found that was completely unnecessary. Just putting to my lips like a regular analog gave me a nice, smooth hit with lots of vapor. Haven't used the manual yet.

The other thing I noticed is that you didn't have to draw on it hard, that it was very similar to drawing on an analog.

With the Joy I'd notice a drop off in vapor and taste almost instantly. Even with a full cart and fresh battery I'd notice it in as little as maybe 30 or so puffs. After that to get anything you'd have to suck on it like you were trying to pull chrome off a bumper, hollow cheeks and all. So far with the G6 there is no drop off in vapor or taste after at least 2 hours of fairly heavy vaping and puffing on it is a lot more like puffing on an analog.

I smoke about 2 packs a day of analogs and wonder about how many carts I could expect to go through a day and how many battery changes will probably be necessary. I know it varies from person to person but am hoping some former heavy analog smokers might be able to help me out with that because I would like to know how many carts and batteries I should really have at any given time so I don't run out and wind up back on analogs.

Edit: I have a home office and sit at a computer all day so my very next order will include a pass through power supply.

Welcome!

At two packs per day, you'll probably be considering the Triton, within a month. Keep the G6 when you need to vape discretely. Either way, your next step is picking up a mini tank; you'll never look back on those cartos. ;)

I don't think there's a reliable way to tell how many cartos you'll use per day, because everyone is a little different, but it'll probably average out to a little more than one per day. Refilling your own cartos is a good savings, but the mini tanks perform better, are overall cheaper, and much easier to refill.

Thanks. I was torn between the G6 and the Triton but chose the G6 so I wouldn't stick out like a sore thumb in social settings. I do plan to get a Triton for home use and a pass through for the G6 (Triton apparently does not have one) as well. Frankly, I wanted to start with the tanks but the starter kits do not offer that option. I think they should, even if they would cost a few bucks more.

I never bought the kit; I put mine together from only the parts I wanted. I wanted the 900 mAh batteries and I didn't want another power adapter.

Moving up to the tanks, small or not, is a steep climb for some, so it makes sense to start with cartos. The throat hit from the PG on a Triton can choke the most avid smoker; just like back when we had our first cigarette ;)

My reasoning for moving up to tanks is that I wanted to know just how much nicotine I was taking in, and it wasn't possible to do that with cartos (FYI, most cartos hold 1 mL of juice, and nic absorption from vaping is very roughly 50%). I also got quite tired of refilling cartos, even though the savings made it worth the effort.

The maintenance on Tritons can be a chore, but the savings are awesome. In 5 months, I've come to own 7 tanks, and an extra 15 coils. I've only lost 3 coils since then.

Welcome.

Aren't you glad you made such a wise choice in vendors?

There's a thread here HALO IS TO E-CIGS WHAT APPLE IS TO TABLETS, in case you had doubt.

You might pass on the Triton kit and go straight to the Triton Variable Volt battery. It'll work with your cartos, but you can dial in the perfect vape. The battery lasts me a bit more than a day of moderate to heavy use. Throw in 2 or three Triton tanks, and a few mini tanks, and you will be set in vaping bliss.

The Triton tank is an even easier draw than the mini tank, and levels far above the carto. Halo has a guarantee, but I'll extend mine. If you don't like your VV and Triton tanks after 10 days, you can PM me and I'll buy them from you.

As to how much you will use? Order a 30 ml of 2 flavors you like, and just monitor your usage. It's different for everyone. I vape between 2 to 4 ml a day.

(And yo, ...., yea, you, ... , come here, you, listen, youse in Joisey, so even a standard post is gonna get to your door real quick-like, yaknowhat I mean? Don't sweat this kinda stuff, we'll set you up)

Welcome to Halo!!!!

Hey devil. First, congrats on moving back to vaping. My first order was pretty much exactly like yours, for almost the same reasons. I was not a 2 pack/day smoker, but I was a solid harsh menthol pack a day+ smoker? I'm now about 4 months down the rabbit hole, and here are what my observations were:

I was surprised by the G6 when I first got it, and loved it. My last drag on an analog immediately preceded my first on the G6, not even a question about it. After a week or so of use, I could start to tell a fresh battery from when it was mostly drained. I found myself rotating the batteries, and charging each 2-3 times a day. Not a deal breaker, but I knew I was gonna be looking for something more substantial soon. After about 2-3 weeks, I was so enamored with the flavors and how I felt, that I couldn't care less about being discrete with a cig-looking G6.

I ordered some mini-tanks, because filling cartomizers was getting time consuming, and despite not being able to change coils, I figured being able to wash the mini-tanks would make them last at least a little longer than carts. I found this to not really be true enough to make it worth it. Some of the juices really gunk up the coils quite a bit.

After about a month to a month and a half, I pulled the trigger on the pass through and a VV Triton. The Passthrough is nothing fancy, and works adequately. The real advantage here is that the constant power source means a consistent hit every time, with no drop off. I had done some reading on regulated vs. unregulated batteries, and decided on the VV Triton because it was regulated, meaning you get the same power right up until the thing dies. In addition, the tanks and coils can be taken apart and cleaned, and in the long run, this has been cheaper than the carts and mini tanks. I have been using the VV for about 3 months now. It still doesn't leave me with unsatisfying hits, like the G6 did sometimes, and I have yet to be able to kill the battery in a day, including hunting early in the morning through to middle of the night web surfing.

So, in summary, I think oral fixation from smoking 2 p/d alone is going to leave you wanting a beefier battery, and the VV will never leave you wanting for a nice deep drag when you're looking for it.

Cheers!

If you do order Triton batteries and not a kit be sure to order a Triton charger as the G6 chargers are not compatible with the Triton batteries and vice versa.

DaveOno, what is it with New Jersey-ites?

I went to high school in Illinois with a girl that moved from New Jersey and when I asked her where she was from, she said West Orange (I think) then gave me some exit number. Needless to say, I just looked at her and said, "What?"

West Orange? exit 148 Bloomfield Ave?

It's gratis from Joe Piscapo, a fine Jerseyite himself, he was a garbageman on Long Beach Island for a few summers) who first did it on SNL in 1981. "You from Joisey? I'm from Joisey. Yea? What exit?"

For da rest of youse not from da Garden State, most coordinates are exits on the Garden State Parkway or the Jersey Turnpike. But the Parkway is unique in that the exits correspond with the mile markers. So, her friend from West Orange at 148 and me from Union at 138 meant we were 10 miles from each other. Capishe? And The Sopranos from West Caldwell is only about 4 miles further than West Orange. and Halo in Pompton Plains is maybe another 10 miles, all off exit 148. (West orange is where Edison had his mansion) Union is famous(?) for The Four Seasons bowling alley where Frankie Valli and his group failed an audition, but decided to steal the name. And Ray Liotta (from Goodfellas) who had a crush on my sister!

So Long Beach Island, still rebuilding from Sandy, is exit 63, Seaside Heights (Snookie and the Jersey Shore gang) exit 82 and Atlantic City is 38.

Capishe? Now, eat your cheese steak Hoagie, birch beer, and see you down the Shore this summer?
