{edit}

Hackers create, crackers destroy.

Anyway..

Ben, I understand why you're doing this. I wish more vendors were as proactive as you. Could we pay for our order with a check or moneyorder in the mail? I'd rather wait twice as long for my order than not be able to order at all, ya know?

I'm trying to place my first order but I guess it's not happening today :(

I have been using "virtual credit card #" for a year online. easy, free and safe, see if your CC company offers them. they can only be used once, so you are safe.

I also use my cc's virtual number service. It's fantastic.

Another option are pre-paid visa gift cards available at your local gas station.

The only thing bad about this is going through Bobas Bounty withdrawal! Plus now poor Ben will have competitors try to use this as an opportunity to tarnish AVEs reputation. The wackos at reddit are even suggesting this could be the work of the FDA.

I was wondering if any FDA conspiracy theories would come of this.

I would definitely be willing to mail a check, I was just about to place an order. :(

I dont have a real cc, just debt cards so virtual cc not an option, i should have used a prepaid but used debt out of convience. u know, when you see something back in stock sometimes you dont have time to think clearly ;)

My CFP told me this: Never EVER use your debit card, except to withdraw cash from the ATM. It's a direct line into your bank account and you are SOL while the bank runs their investigation. A credit card company has incentive to investigate because it's their money that was stolen, not yours.

Yeah, lesson learned. :( I thought debts or anything with the visa logo all carry the same protection, aslong as you report it promptly tho. Either case, this is just a "bummer" rather than a devistating loss of money. Incidently, I only had a few bucks left on my account before it was stolen because I had just purchased tons of vape gear. So I guess you could say not only is vaping saving lives but it saved me the fustration of having a large bank account wiped out momentarily ;)

Edit: The signature of your equipment is seriously causing me to drool.

Not entirely so. Depends on the bank. It was my Debit card that was the victim, but my bank held the transaction, and called me to ensure it was me. Which, of course, it wasn't. I just got my new card today.

This is true but the transaction would have to trigger some sort of flag based on previous behaviour. If you regularly shopped at Amazon and the purchases were made at Amazon, chances are the transaction would go through. If the thief purchased $500.00 at Babys R Us and you have never shopped there before (This has happened to me), then there is a greater chance that the transaction would be denied. But my point is, why even run this risk by using your debit card?

And then of course, on the other side of the coin, that should serve the thievin' buggers right - stealing a vaper's credit card info believing there'd actually be any credit on it to use..

I hope this ends with fraud rather than identity theft because didn't we have to include the last four of our social's for purposes of age verification? Ugh.
