My Homemade USB PT

So I really liked the idea of sitting at the puter and NOT charging batteries here is what I came up with.








The 3mm purple led is on when plugged in and the 5mm blue led turns on when button is pushed. Not exactly a beautiful wiring job but it worked first try

I just made one for myself...spose I could sell them but it would make them alot more spendy then they need to be. The parts cost $12.52 at madvapes and that includes shipping. (No atty or cart.) If you really want me to, pm me and we might be able to work something out.

So now that I bought a multimeter I see that I am only getting 3.6-3.7v under load but I do have 5v no load. Why would this be? Using a 2.2ish ohm atty. The only other thing is the LEDs...they don't take that much voltage to run do they? If so I will remove 'em.

I believe that is all the USB port will put out. If you plug into a USB wall outlet such as an iPhone charging wall adapter you should get 5v I believe.

Thanks Felt...I might have to buy one then all I have is a 500ma plug. I bought a 3.2 atty and it works just not what I was expecting so I switched back to the 2.2ish (when plugged into usb not the ac adapter).

Something don't sound right.

Plunk some numbers into this.

Online Conversion - Ohm's Law Calculator

500mA (.5A) with 3.2Ω resistance = 1.6V, with a 2.2Ω load = 1.1V.

Hey Willy. yea the 500mAh is my ac adapter that I tried to plug my pt into. It does not work. The 3.2 and 2.2 are the attys I tried on the PT plugged into usb on puter which is 5v but under load I am only getting 3.6-3.7v. After I read it again I can see it being confusing...sorry.
And yea the pics are uploaded to the forum and it shows they are there in my control panel thing but they are not showing up for me now either.

My homemade PT uses a 5v 2a AC adapter and works great.

BTW nice job on the build looks great

2 x AA Battery Box with no switch
510 Battery Connector, Sealed
Horn style switch -- Black
USB 2.0 Male to 5 pin Mini B Cable
5mm Blue LED
3mm Violet LED

You can use any LEDs ya want...those are the colors I chose. With a LR 510 atty Low Resistance 510 Spare Atomizer (Bauway) it works nicely for me $11.93 including shipping. Enjoy!

What's all that goo inside? Hope it ain't hot melt. And FWIW it's always a good idea to use one of these as a juice cup and heat sink.

hehe...the "goo" is just hot glue to hold stuff in place...I know it's a little excessive I did replace the hot glue on connection with epoxy putty after it did get warm and the connector started to spin. Yes...finishing washers are going to have a new place in my mods for sure. #10 huh...nice ty...I will check them out tomorrow while I am out and about.
