My journey Begins, Got back to the office after a few meetings with customers and there are 2 wonderful packages on my desk awaiting my arrival. Its Like Christmas when your a kid and opening a present you have been wanting.

My ecig starter kit showed up :rickroll:! I guess from what i was told its not a 510 but a 401 instead.

My juices arrived at the same time. My battery is now plugged in and charging on the first one and should be charged up in about 1 hour.

Hopefully this is a start of dumping those stinking analogs to the curb and onto something (albeit admittedly not as healthy as walking away cold turkey)something a lot "healthier" for me and still able to enjoy something that i must admit brings me pleasure with out 4000 chemicals assaulting my poor lungs as they have been for the last 26 years.

Cheers! to ecig Ontario and my juice supplier(love to shoot out a name but don't know if i can or should here :( ) for great service and amazing delivery times !!

LETS DO THIS! :w00t:

Search YouTube for the condom method of filling cartos. It should be the same for the 401 style

I saw that method. The carts that came with the ecig didnt come with that extra cap. They are sealed in a plastic bag and have foil i have to pierce over the medium they are using to hold the juice. The instructions say to pierce the foil with the atomizer, take back off drip 4-5 drops onto the pierced foil and put one drop on the atomizer as well.

A few questions..I assume by looking at the condom method the carts i have are just the stock ones for the 401 and i can purchase the carts with the extra cap..

#2) only 4-5 drops? im hearing a dry cart can take up to 15..but i'll try 5 drops for now and see how well it fills.

#3) if i do get the raw juice in my mouth because it runs out for what ever reason is this hazardous to some degree or just really nasty tasting..

#4) how many hauls off a cart should i get..I assume i will know when its dry because i wont get anything. Just dont want to burn out the atomizer sucking my fool head off when the cart is running dry. Maybe drip in 4-5 drops every half day for an average pack a day smoker kind of frequency?

oh and congrats! You should be blowing fog in no time

Thank you :)..I'm guess im going to be taking my first hauls shortly here. Just debating which Juice to try first :)

Edit : sooner then later i guess...the light in the tip just went out..1st battery is charged up

So you think you are kicking an addiction do you?
Wait until you find that you are a Juice fiend like Chellynelly (I was going to use another word but I just can't bring myself to use it in reference to her or anyone else on this forum).
Or, even worse, hardware

LOL
Cheers and welcome to the journey...

Ohh gawd...

Dont get me started on geek hardware . Im bad enough at upgrading my gaming PC constantly with the latest and greatest thing that can make it work 1ms faster or give me an extra 5 fps in some game, this i can see if it works out turning into a new hardware obsession.

To be honest I have little to no experience with the 401. I would assume that the carts would hold about the same as a 510... about 1.2ml

Fill it till it leaks LOL ... that sounds so bad ... but drip till it drips out the bottom. lay it on its side for about 2 mins (just to make sure you soak up all the juice you can) Give it a light puff into paper towel to get the juice out of the center air tube. and vape away

Raw juice will make you mouth go numb ... follow the steps above and you'll be fine

Again limited 401 experience but you should get about 2 batteries worth out of a carto.

Are the batteries auto or manual?

You chose the wrong hobby...Less than a week after I got my first full kit (100$+tax and expresspost because waiting's fo suckas) I was already looking at new hardware. The software side, man o man. I tried some tobaccy ones but once I tried some of the other flavours I went on a bit of a sample-spree. "Canaday sales and 10ml samplers? Oh my...if you insist. Oh I should get one more just in case..." I'm now waiting on 120ml of new tastes, and I had to trim the wishlist down.

The good news is that as a Canadian you're paying through the nose for tobacco. Even with an uninformed purchase or a mod/juice spree you'll be in the black within 2 months (assuming you're 1/2PAD). Once you get a setup you're happy with the regular upkeep costs are barely a dent compared to tobacco. Maths!

Buddy you are cooked...done like dinner. When you start to see the innovations, craftsman ship, materials and concepts that change almost daily, out of the US, and Europe well........just give in, mortgage the farm and enjoy

the batteries are auto. No buttons, just start sucking and it does its thing. Thanks for Tips on filling, I have had my first few hauls off and I LIKE IT ! so far. I hear the atomizers have to "mature" a bit and the flavour will improve and get more vapour as well.

I did some math last night..average i was spending a week (working not vacation) was $45-$50+ on analogs. 200+ a month ...damn that makes me sick just thinking about it. keep myself in a decent supply of juice and i could coast for 6 months on im guessing 50-75 bucks. WIN!

The worst/best party is that, by kicking cigs to the curb, you are likely to extend your life so, more years paying for this hobby.
LOL

Just as long as this helps me along the way of not following the family tradition of dying before we turn 60 (my father died at 50 from a heart attack) and they were all smokers...Im a happy camper..

OK.. The foil thing , and some other stuff you mentioned had me confused, so I just went back to your original post on what you bought. This is actually a 3 piece kit.. Battery -> Atty -> Cartridge. Not a caromizer system.

Interesting that they would give you an atty on an auto battery.. just be careful not to overfill your cartridge, or drip too much on the atty because if you leak into the battery you can kill it. Cartridges like these usually only take about 10 drops if memory serves (Man it's been a long time).

Not sure if stuff like the blue foam mods would work on an auto without risking failure. Hard to say without actually looking at it.

Either way.. Welcome aboard, and hide your wallet! ;)

You are correct ..this is a 3 piece unit.

I put the 1 drop onto atomizer (heater?) ( silver metal textured looking v shaped thing that screws onto the battery) as they suggested and i was able to get about 7 drops into the cartridge after i pierced the foil.

do i have to put a drop on the atomizer everytime i fill it up?

No, you shouldn't have to put a drop on the atty every time you fill. It's just to "prime" it to be ready to accept the cartridge and make sure it wicks the juice properly from the cartridge. The only other time you'll need to do it again is after you clean and dry the Atty, which you should probably do once a week or so depending on how much you use it. If the vapor and flavour start to drop, and you're using a freshly filled cartridge, then it's time to clean.

If you notice ANY gurgling (You'll know when it happens) remove the atty immediately and blow it out on to a tissue. If it's gurgling, the atty is flooded and you risk leaking juice into the battery. I assume when you look down at the threaded end of the battery there's a hole in the middle. Juice in there = bad. They could have upgraded to a partially sealed unit (like the Redds use), but doubtful.

welcome!...you picked a great spot to learn, I know I have in the past 2 months that my wife and I have been smoke free!
I like the larger juice holding of clearomizers (stardust) and tanks like the ViVi Nova ....I also love the variable voltage mods
that allow me to custome tune for the amount of vapor and taste that I like or feel I need to scratch my 23 year cigg habit
that is no more!

congrats, crazycanuck! it's gonna be a great journey. my husband and i started vaping just over a month ago. lovin' it big time! our starter kits had e-cigs, charger, and already-loaded cartos. i'm still wading thru all the info of all the types of hardware out there. i really like easy and simple, so the loaded cartos were great for me. i've since got some juices and drop into the used cartos; works well for us. i do like the simplicity of simply screwing on a new carto, but i find it difficult to be able to purchase them..the ones already filled, that is. there are way more suppliers of juice than filled cartos. but i'm learning, and will probably try a few new gadgets along the way. i expect once i get used to it, i may prefer empty cartos that i can fill with juice myself. happy trails. enjoy your stinkless, burnless vaping!
