With the success of my usb juicebox mod...

I had an extra housing left over and I wanted to try the same mod with a Red Dragon (loongtotem v9/bloog/EAZE Magnum/Smoke 51 clone). Again, I couldn't bear the thought of killing a perfectly good battery so I simply used one of the many atomizer/cartridges that I have been refilling for a while. This is essentially a disposable unit since the atomizer/cartridge will eventually wear out. The vapor production is great and it's nice not to have that 3 second cutoff. Yeah my switch is overkill again but it's what I had lying around. I just attached an empty 901 mouthpiece over the atomizer so that my mouth is further away from the box and I don't burn my mouth on the steel atomizer. I'm very interested to find out how long those disposable lithium AAA batteries last...

Esk--Nice unit--did you hot glue the switch and atomizer tread on--and have you considered rechargables in the unit?

Yup it's hot glue. Since these were built as cheap practice units, I didn't feel like breaking out epoxy. I do have a boatload of rechargeable AAA batteries lying around so I'll try those when these wear out. I just wanted to give this unit the best shot of getting good power so I bought the lithium disposables for this first go around.

It looks to me that the wires are directly connected to the atomizer itself. At least thats what I see in the middle picture. Good stuff eskimoroll!

Yup, both units are direct connections to atomizers. Of course a battery tip connection would be much better in the long run but heck, these things go together in like an hour so when some batteries eventually die, I can easily swap these atomizers our for the battery tips or make up some more units.

Esk--Did you bore the holes with a drill or cut them out?? Thanks--Sun

I have made two mods with these boxes-the way I drill the holes is to hold a (sharp) drill bit with a rag in one hand and the box in the other and just twist, starting with a small bit to center the hole correctly. Goes quick. Once you are through rotate the bit backwards.
To get a really clean hole and tight fit just continue twisting while pressing the sides of the hole with a slightly undersize bit.

Sun, I just used my soldering iron to create my holes, it worked perfectly. Just had to sandpaper the tip after use.

Thanks for the Tips my Friends---Sun:thumb:

Houdini--If you look at the last picture--there is a switch on the box itself that you slide over and it kills the current to the outside switch---Sun

Nice work eskimoroll. One question. Why is there a need for an on/off switch when you have a manual activation button? Is it in case you have it in your pocket the button won't get pressed accidentally?

Actually there's no real need for a manual on/off switch but it is a nice perk. It actually came with the battery housing. It would prevent having a button accidentally push like you said or have the switch stick which would fry your atomizer and possibly start a little fire in your pants!

The usb version has a slightly smaller housing (two AA battery housing vs three AAA batteries) and it doesn't come with the on/off switch.
