...and it wasn't long before I ordered my first mod. While I was awaitning it's arrival, I came across an old Radio Shack project box. It didn't have a battery door so it was out to the trash bin to retreive an old lighted magnifier glass in which the batteries had corroded.

About two days after my Rough Stack V2 arrrived it was off to MadVape.com for parts and pieces. With a little oversight another order filled in the gaps.

Main parts

- Radio Shack project box - Outside dimensions 1 1/8" x 2" x 3" including lid
- MadVapes VV Regulator board
- MadVapes pushbutton switch - same as Rough Stack
- 2 x 18350 batteries
- 808 type battery connector
- Surplus battery door (got an old A/V remote control unit..?)

Here's the results.

A piece of prototype board has battery connectors affixed to it. A two-sided velcro strap goes around the board and secures the batteries. It's all pretty compact and fits my hand nicely.

I found it necessary to remove the would-be circuit board containing tabs inside the RS box. It would be great to find one without the tabs/grooves. The control for the MV VV regulator fits nicely in a hole in the side of the box. A tool for adjustment is fashioned out of a piece of the cut out for the battery door and with a small piece of velcor adhered, attaches to the battery securing Velcro.

Great fun!

Thanks. The battery door is certainly better than unscrewing 4 screws for an about once a day battery change. It would be nice to find battery doors without their devices. ...guess that's not going to happen. For those who go to garage/yard sales, probably A/V remotes can be found for little. I did have to cut the lenght of that door down by about 1/4" or so. Then I had to add a tab at the end. I used a small piece of hobby brass and plastic epoxy to affix it. As well, I added similar brass strips to the inside of the lid protruding into the opening. These suppore the battery door itself. Thanks for the post.
