Just finished building my new 5V 510 mod box kit from madvapes. Now I'm just waiting on my batteries to come in (not till 12/27, damn holidays).

But will I really be impressed with it? I watched some videos of folks vaping with 5V mods, and it seems like the get a HUGE vaper hit. I see a cloud of vape. Almost looks like a .... hit to me. I'm wondering if that's going to be too much vapor for me?

Anyone who has a 5V mod box, what do you think of it? I don't know if I like the color changing LED. I powered that up and it kinda looked annoying with the flashing lights. Would rather of had a normal colored LED. Maybe I'll just switch it out with another led. I haven't put on any glue or epoxy yet (except for the button), so I think it should be easy enough to replace the LED.

I don't like the LED's at all (but that's just me) Just as soon not have things on my PV that say "look at me".

I know exactly what you mean. This flashing LED looks like an alarm or cop car lights flashing. Soon as I start vaping, I'll alert anyone within 200 yards! Probably will vape alone, behind closed doors. I don't want all that attention the light will bring.

Suggestion to Madvapes..... Maybe consider shipping different LEDs with the 5V mods. I think people will like it better. But that's just my opinion.

I don't like blinky lights either, I build my boxmods without any lights. It's easier too.

True, it's much easier if you don't have to add a light. One less resistor you need to solder, and no LED to solder. A lot easier to fit everything in the box without stuffing or crowding it all in there.

Get ready for "eyes wide open" and "just can't get enough"!

The vapor change alone with that setup is going to blow you away. The TH together with the warmth of the vapor is what really tops it off. I'm not sure, I ever got that with an analog. Some of the juices that I considered tasteless with the Joye 510 and eGo taste like heaven with box mods.

I built my first ... oh, gush, that's over a year ago! Time flies, I guess ... and planned on only using it behind closed doors at home, because I figured it would look odd in public. Well, I liked it that much, I just couldn't leave my fingers off of it. Ended up building a second, prettier one and added LED's that I use away from home.

Enjoy your box mod! ... and DO get the 3 ohm cartos (you'll like'em!).

I get the best flavor etc. with the 3.0 ohm at 5.0 volts, but you can try different ohm ratings to see where your sweet spot is...
So you don't think it's overkill on the vapor? I'm curious to test it out, but nervous it will be too much vapor in one hit. It looks intense!

I have some 2ohm & 4.5 ohm attys, will either of those be okay? As far as 510 cartos, I just have a couple 510 Dual Coil Cartos. The dual coil says it has dual 3.2ohms coils (in parallel giving a total resistance of approx. 1.6ohms). Will that be of any use to me, or am I going to need to order some new gear? Other than that, for 510 stuff, I just have a few empty cartridges and drip tips. Hopefully what I have will work. I've put a little bit of a dent in my wallet lately ordering all my vaping gear, and other stuff for xmas.

The atties will be fine, but the DCCs will trip the overcurrent protection in the regulator. It will stop working until you power-cycle it, too. Absolutely agree with 3Ω-ish cartos suggestions. I like CE2s on my copy of that box.

Sometime next week I am probably going to order a few more things from madvapes. Is there any particular attys/cartos that you would recommend from madvapes? Or would you recommend something from some other vendor? I would preferably like to get it from madvapes, since I will already be ordering something from there anyways. I can save a little bit on shipping that way.

I like the Bauway CE2s. They're clear, so I can see what my juice level is. The coil's on top, and I've found it best to invert it every so often to get juice up there, especially once it's half-empty or so. Also, remember to order a syringe while you're at it.

Have fun! And a merry Christmas!

I've been using the condom fill method. Haven't had any issues or spillage yet. I'm trying to avoid the syringes unless I absolutely need them. Thanks for the recommendation though. I'll probably go with that suggestion for the cartos.

Merry Christmas to you as well. Have fun & be safe.

Actually, you kinda do need a syringe for the CE2s. The condom method won't really work with these, 'cos they only have the silica wicking to get the juice to the coil; there's no poly-fill material in them to soak up juice, and the holes to put the juice in are very small. I've never been a fan of the poly-filled cartos. I've a few DCCs I've used on my 3.7v gear, but that's about the limits of my experience with 'em. Sorry.

Ahhh, I see. Wasn't aware of that, thanks for letting me know before I blindly ordered more gear. LOL

I'll probably just avoid any PV gear that requires a syringe for now. Might change my mind and break down some day. Just not today :vapor:

I'm in quite the same boat...I was gifted with a VV Evercool box mod and am awaiting batts and some 3ohm cartos...I have visions of ??? dancing thru my head...lolol..........
