M_Factor,
I, too, encounter this problem with natural tobacco extracts. As has been noted, the vendors making macerated tobacco extracts simply don't possess the sophisticated filtering technology necessary to remove all the particulates and still get great flavor. w2v Managua is my worst offender, but particulate build-up happens with many of my favorite juices, including Vaperite Organic VR4 and Organic Honey Tobacco, Vermillion River Kentucky Premium, and Prime Vaping Natural Tobacco and Nostalgia, among others. I don't notice it much with Backwoods Brew, however.
I use mega XL dual-coil clear cartos, which can be cleaned. Carefully snap off the base of the clear tube from the connector (by putting the carto on a good solid battery connection and rocking the tube back and forth until the glue bond gives way), pull off the tube, Then unwrap and remove both the outer batting and the inner wicking strips (wrapped around each coil). Gently rinse out the filler and wicks under hot water until clean (be especially gentle with the wicks or they will tear or disintegrate). Pat dry the filler and wicks thoroughly by squeezing out the water between sheets of paper towels, then re-wrap the wick strips around each coil and the batting around both coils. There's a slight learning curve with that step, but you'll master it quickly. Once the carto is re-wrapped, slide the clear tube over the batting, then press fit it back onto the connector. Re-gluing is not necessary as they fit very snugly. An optional step before re-assembly is to do a dry burn of the coils (without the wicks, which will burn).
Yeah, it reads like a lot to go through, but it takes only about ten minutes total. Do two or three at the same time, and it's only about 15 minutes total. Now that I've mastered the process, it's easy. The cleaned DC cartos are, if not quite as good as new, probably 90% there. I suppose it's not really worth my time, given that I buy duals from deejstuff for $1.50 each including shipping (that price is for four packs of five), but I kind of like doing it. I clean mine when the bottom of the batting has become much darker than the top (meaning that the particulates have accumulated), but before the carto actually clogs or the draw stiffens.
There are two camps about CE2s: Love 'em or Hate 'em. I'm in the "Hate 'em" camp. Good flavor, but no throat hit, and 90% of mine leaked like sieves. I tried them all---steels, clearos, regulars, XLs, 3ml/5ml/10ml syringe and tank mods. After messing endlessly and for months with about 50 of them, I got so fed up that I tossed them into the trash. Never again.
Cartos work for me. I keep them wet, so no problems with burned filler ever. Boges are good, either standard 3.0 ohm or LR 2.0 ohm. Ikenvape 2.5 ohm IKV Gold V2s are terrific, too. 1.5 ohm dual coils are my faves, though. Yes, duals do, in fact, use a lot more juice and drain batteries faster, but I like buying juice, and I have more than enough batteries and chargers. Dual coil cartos on my Madvapes VV boxes are vaping heaven.
