I decided to pick up the Blue Lightning from madvapes last week and decided to put it together last night while trying to figure out another mod of mine.
It took a little ingenuity to put together but it works great. I guess it is the acrylic but I have to say it is one of the best feeling mods in my hands. Perfect weight and good length.
I am not always very partial to 510's but I figured I would just do that to keep the length down on the unit instead of going to my normal LR801's.

They definitely are nice mods. I agree with you about how nicely they fit in your hand. Weight is just right with the 14500 battery.
Had one question..... when I built mine, I had a heck of a time getting the round piece that holds the pos. battery contact in place. I was not sure if it is supposed to be glued in or made just tight enough so it can be pushed into place and remain there. Also was not sure how to judge how far into the unit it had to go so you could completely screw it together with no gaps in the tube.
One tutorial I read talked about using part of the cap from a 3 ml bottle to help brace the pos. piece, but it was not clear how that was implemented. I just picked up another tube and want to make this one correctly. I would rather have a way so I know the pos. terminal piece won't come loose if accidentally dropped or jarred somehow. (Ceramic tile flooring and PV's do not mix well...lol.) The way that upper cap is made, there is very limited access to get to the backside of the pos. plate.
Would you mind sharing how you did yours? Sure would appreciate any help or tips. Thanks in advance...... horton

Well, mine is in no way permanent but I also kind of wanted it that way so if anything ever messed up on it, I could fix it. Here are some shot of my positive post. I worked with the same thing you found, top of a bottle cap, my cap was not as thick as his so I had to use something else to inside of it. I used a spring from one of the battery boxes I had laying around for spare parts. I did use a 5ml bottle cap for the spacer though like he did.

Thank you very much, Skyway..... your pics make it very clear as to what I need to do. I agree with you about not making it permanent after reading your post. If you ever have to remove the switch or whatever, you would be up the creek with that piece glued in. Thanks for pointing that out to me.
Your pics are great.... thanks for taking the time to help me..... horton

You just demonstrated what is so wonderful about this forum...... members helping each other. I've been on other hobby forums where someone would post about some cool thing they made, but would never consider sharing how they did it. What's the point of that? Here, I find everyone is more than willing to help a member get past a little "bump" in their path to success. I'm sure as I dig deeper into modding, I'll have more and more questions. I always know I can come here and get help. It's a good feeling!!
Thanks again, Skyway..... really appreciated your input.
