So, I was thinking yesterday about micro coils in the Kanger BCC's, and how they are kinda useless when you have to add flavor wicks to prevent leaks.

Here's a quick pictorial of how to use 5mm Ekowool wick and eliminate the flavor "blankets"
Starting off with the following. 28awg Kanthal, 5mm Ekowool, and a stripped head. The twister is/was a 2" coated paperclip. Disregard the sawzall blade til later.

Insert stripped end of paperclip into pretorched wick, turn 5 wrap coil.

Insert into wick base and tune up the wraps.

Cut a 1mm relief into the press fit end of the chimney, then press it into the base, aligning the reliefs with the wick. Without the cuts, the wick will starve and produce dry hits.

Worked out to 2.6 ohms, my first one was 2.4, I guess this one is a hair looser.

I've been clouding up all day, one and a half Protank-fuls of Legend today, not a single dry hit, no harshness, and the flavor has been incredible.

Enjoy the new Macro Coil!!

Nice pictorial. You might consider trying 3mm ekowool and maybe not have to cut the extra notches. When I use the P&C cotton yarn, which seems to be about 3mm, I do not use any "flavor wicks" either. I would imagine the same would hold true for the eko.

Also I am not really familiar with eko, but isn't that just a fancy word for silica sleeve? If so what advantages does the sleeve have over a solid silica strand?

Ha! Nice! It is usually up to full temp after two primer puffs, which I've done since day one with the Kanger products. Cool thing is there haven't been any floods or gurgles even with high PG liquids.

Ekowool needs to be thicker BTW than cotton, it doesn't swell as much as cotton when its fully saturated.

Thanks for this. I did a 'mini macro coil' (maybe?) with 3mm ekowool. Its great for my menthols, flavor's the same but I like a cooler vape with those.

Still like mico coils w/ cotton (or iclear 30s, but I can't rebuild, so I ain't buyin dem no mo) for my sweeter juices.

Edit: and I think its been going through less juice. Not being much of a cloud chaser, since the flavor is still there, that is a very good thing. The micro coils seem to have been chugging the juice. Thanks again for making me think outside the current trends.

I've tried the same thing, but with 1.5mm ekowool and 30 gauge kanthal, about 4 wraps. Around 1.4-1.6 Ohm. No flavor wicks.

If the tank is near full, I have to do primer pulls. And when it's near empty it floods. I'm able (with a LOT of patience) to get my coils very evenly spaced.

Just lookin' for any and all input.

I believe when they're talking about ekowool the measurement is the inside diameter.

For sleeving this is true, but the description calls it "cord" which I take to mean it is not a sleeve but is more solid. I could be wrong and I do not have any of this stuff.
