That's a small converter, J It only comes in surface mount packages, correct?

(see this is why I'm using the eBay modules: give me sumthin' that says IN+ IN- & OUT+ OUT- and I can handle that )

i made order of free sample from linear technology. I tested some other IC like lt1170 or LT1370 with Mos Fet integrated but not satisfied of this.And after i try some other, and this is ok. At 2 ohmi atty i have only 0.2V drop and at 4 ohmi HV5 ai have 0.1V drop down. 2 ohmi ---3.6V out and 4 ohmi 5.2V out.

I've been vaping on my ACDC mod for a few weeks now. This mod is using an LM2596 step-down module purchased on eBay. It's been working great. I run from an AC adapter source (for PT functionality) or 2 14500 Trustfires. I have been vaping in the 4.5V +/-0.3V range using a 3.2ohm clearo. I've vaped all day (2-3mL) just using the 14500 batts with no problem. Personally 6-8 watts vaping is my range.

Just an a FYI on the common 'It needs to do 3A' comments:

- To get 3A at 3.7V you would need a 1.2ohm atty/carto, which gives 11watts - doable I guess; but starting to get out of the average vapers range in my opinion.

- 4.5V w/1.5ohm give 3A at 13.5 watts - now, in my opinion, that's really getting too high.

- 5V w/1.7ohm gives 3A at 15 watts - is anyone regularly vaping LR at 5V? I'm sure there are.

- 6V w/2ohm gives 3A at 18 watts - if anyone regularly vapes here, they just gotta be showin' off (j/k)

I've put the Kick through the paces with every attachment I can think of and I end up, as a personal preference, in that range. Even with higher wattage options with the Darwin, 12 watts eliminates flavor. I don't get why anyone wants to vape at extreme wattage levels. But, I don't get the "throat hit" argument either. lol

I use TSOT-23 package.It`s ok for me

Nice, how about a few details. All we see are the 04050 mods, basically Nuck's original Fistpack design with RjG's little 100k hack to further drop the native 5V output.

i don`t understand what you want to say .My test was made on 1.25, 2 ohmi, 4 ohmi atty..Voltage out have a low drop out around 0.1V - 0.3V depends of atty.At boost convertor is very important inductors value and Cout value for minimal drop out voltage. With 1.25 1.5 ohmi atty work in liniar mode, you will vape directly from batt.

it`s made by datasheet schematic, Cout = 300 uF tantalum. all as you need is here LTC3872 datasheet pdf datenblatt - Linear Technology - No RSENSE Current Mode Boost DC/DC Controller ::: ALLDATASHEET :::

also other modification is FB resistor (resistor divider) 1K to GND and 10 K trimer
