Earlier this week, when I decided I wanted to finally dedicate myself to the cause of vaping, I initially wanted to find a local distributor from whom I could purchase my e-cig and take it home that very night.
The only place I could find was called something like A&N Supply. They have locations at four area malls. I should have known they were suspect when I couldn't find a website or any information about them.
I called them up, and the first location I tried, nobody picked up the phone. I let it ring forever, hung up, and called them again roughly 15 minutes later.
So then I called another location, and a kind of... Odd... Lady answered the phone. I asked her if they had a couple different models I was looking at, including the Blu Cig*. Her immediate, knee-jerk response was "You don't want a Blu Cig." And she didn't give me the responses I was expecting (slow shipping, poor battery life, etc.). Instead she told me something like they refuse to sell refill carts/attys after 45 days. Seemed rather odd. Why would Blu Cig REFUSE to let you give them your money after a certain amount of time elapsed since your initial purchase?
They only sold a product called Wanna Vape, and she directed me to wanna vape dot com. And then, just to get an idea, I asked her how much the starter kit cost. $160.00. As in, one hundred and sixty U.S. dollars.
Wow. Now, I've seen some pretty impressive e-cigs, but even two custom-designed batts, six-pack of cartos, multiple chargers and PCC will still only run you about $100.00 from the distributor I looked at.
Without even breathing, she proceeded to tell me (in a very defensive manner) about how their company had just won an $8million lawsuit against the FDA and all this stuff...
When I got home, I pulled up the website, and while the website looked legitimate, some investigative work into the domain's registration and current estimated value ($65.00, BTW) just set off a serious red light for me. This was obviously NOT a reputable product. (Even Blu Cig, I'm sure, has a domain that's worth more than $65.00 at this point!)
I didn't see anything on their website about their victorious FDA victory, and I would assume that if they WERE these major victors, WV.com would be the #1 provider of e-cigs and most beloved vendor of the vaping forums. But, I have yet to find any information/reviews about them.
Based on a banner ad I saw on this forum, I purchased my starter kit from Vapor 4 Life, and I am quite pleased with it thus far.
Roughly one hour after I made my initial V4L order, the guy from the first store I called, called me back. He was just about as rude and clueless as could be... No customer service skills whatsoever. "Yeah, I got a call from you? Who is this? What do you want?" I told him I was calling to inquire about his overpriced e-cig, but since he didn't answer the phone, he lost a customer and I found a much better product!!
Thought y'all would find my journey entertaining...
* Super glad I did NOT go with the Blu Cig!!
