Well today is the day I pick it up. I sold 4 of my 5th scale rc cars to help the purchase. I bought a 2008 Yamaha V Star 1100, Canadian Classic Edition. I am so stoked. Haven't owned a motorcycle since 1988 and I jumped in big. Just under 1800km on it. Came with leather bags, padded back rest and rack. I got a nice alarm system but have to install it myself, waterproof cover for the bag setup (the bags are studded leather), bike cover and a cheezy helmet which will be my spare when my riding outfit order arrives from leatherup.com

going to have to get a lanyard so I can vape on the road hehe. poor smokers can't do that haha SWEET

pics..... or it never happened :p

Happy for ya bud..... I gave up riding in 91 after another laydown due to road 'tards, and the roads around here are even worse than back then. I surely miss riding as I've had bikes all my life.. (the last one a 1400 Intruder), but I'll stick to the trails now (see avatar) where I only have to worry about kamakazee bunnies and the odd deer or moose, lol.

oh I understand too well. I sold my bike when I moved to alberta. winter was coming and I needed a car. the guy I sold it to loaned it out, dude took his girlfriend (married to someone else I might add) out for a ride. the tire had a screw in it, never should have been ridden until it was fixed. tire blew, she crashed through a park bench and died. I was being sued for 4 million... since I was the last registered owner. it was actually a scary battle and luck was on my side to come up with the evidence to prove I sold it a year later...

I have an old 1974 honda xl 250 I am restoring for trail riding...

well turns out I can't get the bike today. weather for one. but I have cars to detail and would have had to put them off until thursday. they are kinda PO'd I am not there today. I as going to drive out and bring the bike back, get a ride out tomorrow night to get my van and then work thursday but no good. so I have a ride out saturday.

it's funny. the bike came in on trade. I contract all the used car detailing. they asked for a quote, I gave them a cheap price. the big boss started grinding me. I can't use the words I said but I told him to get his kid to detail it for the price he offered me (I do a bunch of harleys and such for private customers). the busines manager is a friend and fellow rc hobbyist. I said screw this what's my price for the bike. I'll buy it, detail it for myself and show them what they missed. well my price was really good... I just have to let my bud take it for a rip... he's working saturday hehe

I leave my detailing gear there unless I have private jobs, and it's an hour down the hwy from me. what I save in gas this year will pay a big chunk of the bike. my not smoking bill pays the rest

Here's the bag set I got. I brought them home last night. the helmet I had to strip the flag decals off and paint it (no offense to my USA bros but it was tacky). and here's a pic of a bike the same colors. mine has a windshield allready and a rear rack with passenger backrest. I have the covers and the alarm sitting here and the bill of sale but not taking a pic of that LOL

well I had ordered myself riding gear and a new mask. They'll be here friday. I went in to do some detailing. I drive from Surrey, basically at the delta border to chilliwack. it's a long drive. the truck I was supposed to detail was gone. the service manager grabbed it and took it to nissan and was sold there yesterday. he never let sales know. it was pouring rain anyway. I paid for the bike and got insurance. I came home to figure when I'd get back. Buddy called while I was away and called him up. 30 mins later he picked me up and we headed out as he had to go close anyway. He is a health freak and was cool with me vaping in his A4 hehe... He took this pic outside the dealership. Had to use the jumper cable unit as the battery was dead. I used the cone head mask, put a tube on to cover my ears. It rained a bit on the hwy coming back...the wind was intense. I caught my glasses once at the tip of my nose and one arm was out haha. $15 filled it with premium. I am in love with this bike. It's like driving a cadillac. I have the day off so will detail it. I hate this helmet, can't wait for my new one to arrive.

I tried to get my pv at a light, but couldn't get past my real glasses. and considering how my trip started out....

and no I was wearing work clothes. my riding gear will be here friday from fedex. so will my helmet. I did ride in that goofy getup though. and it was still the most exhilerating thing I have felt in a long long time... if you look close I do have my ego t in my hand hehe, as I needed a few vapes before heading out.

I just played around with mounting the bags and trying the covers out. part of the reason I am detailing it tomorrow is to show the dealership what I can do to a bike, and second so I don't ride it until friday when my body armor and crap arrives hehe. this bike has jam. a little shiver ran through the body teehee.

I just need a lanyard now. the new helmet has venting and adjustable intake and exhaust venting. modular style full face. the whole jaw flips up. made for us guys that wear glasses. I like full face helmets myself. I have seen what can happen to the chin. worn one down good, that would have been my jaw. man am I wired. I haven't even eaten dinner yet.

Kitty sure seems to like it. I airbrushed a scooter like yours not long ago.. my first 2 days analog free were painting that scooter. I was surprised how quick they actually go.

Well I got most of it detailed today. I took of decals and emblems that had been stuck on, took the tank stickers off and polished the tank 9there's a pretty deep buckle scratch on the tank I didn't get out), cleaned the melted pant leg and shoe sole off the pipe, wiped things down, straightened the shroud over left front signal light... basically just have the rims to go. my new helmet and riding gear should be here in the morning so I can go for a ride.

Why thank you. Mine aspires to be a scooter. It's actually a PAD or e-bike and I get all of 32km/hr out of it. It's about my speed though. What can I say?

I do get a kick out of the bikers. Guys like you that ride the real things. I get gently teased but actually respected by them. I guess they are waiting for me to step up to the real thing sooner or later.

Want to come over and shine mine up and get it ready for the spring? ;)

bah, I am far from being a "biker". I detail harleys and such and my buds are laughing at me wearing textile body armor and a full face helmet lol. it is true though, most people that ride something on 2 wheels have this bond kinda like vapers do. we setup a track in a college parking lot to run our 5th scale rc cars. there are 6 lots at this place and the motorcycle training club rents the property on weekends. we just use the far corner, toss down garden hoses and have fun. a couple of the bikers came over to see, I pulled out my rc ducatti bike and ran around and they howled. well this is our second year in that place and they stop by now and then to see us run. never a complaint. we respect it's their space and appreciate being allowed to play there. I can't wait to strap my rc in my avatar to my bike to run out. the looks from cars should be priceless... look at the semi haha

well, I checked my tracking this morning and my riding gear was in vancouver. an hour later it was in richmond. 30 mins later it was in surrey... now it's out for delivery. my head is about to explode... stalking time. and now am wishing I went for a ride yesterday as it is pouring rain right now grrr

oh and congrats to the vancouver canucks for clinching the presidents trophy last night.

to make more room in the garage for the bike, i finished off painting an rc car. it's a 5th scale porsche gt3. I painted it for my bud that lives in the complex. I also gave him my restoration project; 1974 honda 250. I just can't see myself ever wanting to ride that thing now. it held memories but dave will actually get it done. it's been under a tarp outside now for a year.

the porsche I painted like the hybrid racing team colors. airbrushing is a new hobby for me. I am still a rookie.
