I must made my first blog about my atomizers (so far the kayfun Lite and Steam Turbine). Can anyone see them?? Do the pix show up? I linked them from my website since they were too big to upload.

I don't know if I did it right. Does it look OK? Would appreciate some comments and suggestions:)!!

Susan... how I got them is a bit awkward, but basically, I found out some very interesting tidbits on how China manufactures, which I'm not going to post publicly. The important thing is that manufacturers often make several grades of a given design, some with changes, and put other names on them (other clone names). Mine are the highest end of these clones, and look (photos) better fit and finished than the originals. For sure, my stainless is top of the line (no trace of the giveaway brassy highlights you see on chinese mystery metal), and I tested this via melt test in 2000 degrees.

So... my telling you where I got them will not get you the same finish and materials anyway.
*edit: the above sentence sounded rude, sorry! What I meant to say was, you need to very carefully check over the photo of any RBA you want, and compare with the originals. That's why I took such closeup photos, so you can see what the finish would optimally be, and the features mine had (exactly the same as the Kayfun light, including the small taper at the top of the cone). Mine is exactly the Kayfun Lite... with 1 difference, it's got the Russian 91 airflow hole at the bottom too.

Thrasher, the Steam Turbine... omg... I LOVE it now... just LOVE it!!! I'm going to wait til this build screws up and then attempt a regular cotton wick rebuild on it... can't see one reason I MUST use mesh in it... and that mesh build is a pain in the .... and I still don't fully understand how or WHY it works the way it does (ie., WHY do the coils need to be exactly the same DISTANCE apart from each other for it to fire? Cotton wick coils don't have this requirement?)

when you have two coils they need to glow at the same rate evenly for best effect, as in, why have two wicks if only one fires in the 5 seconds you hold the button?

so keeping that in mind.....

the resistance is decided by the length of the wire, if one wick has more or less wire the resistance will change, causing one to glow faster.

the wicks need to be identical distances to better control the wire length, nothing to do with wicking.

so it is important that in a multi wick set up the wicks are set up as equal as possible to keep the wire (and resistance) as equal as possible.

there is nothing that says it is mandatory to use mesh wicks but the rules for dual wicks/wire length are always the same.

here is how steel mesh wicks juice:

Thrasher, thanks for the info:). A question, do you trim your mesh wicks? I've seen videos where some people trimmed them short, others left them long to the bottom of the tank... what is the reason for trimming?

touching the bottom of the tank which is metal may cause the wicks to short out easier or lead to shorts and hotspots. personally mine sit on the bottom, if you prepare the coil area properly the wick shouldnt short out no matter what anyways.

long ago I heard some talk about shorter wicks will help wicking because the bottom of the wick stays open that way, and an even stranger theory that ingredients in the juice can wick at different speeds causing separation as it travels up the wick. (and thats also why clearos went to short wicks)

some of the first videos I watch on building mesh wicks all stated "and make sure you keep the wick from touching the bottom to avoid shorting out" and right away i thought "if your coil is able to short out you have other problems besides touching the tank bottom"

Im to the point now I dont even oxidize wicks anymore, i let the coil do it for me. (thanks to a great modder PetarK for teaching us this)

Thanks:). It's not a very fancy or particularly informational blog... just my opinion of these atomizer types compared to other types I have (which is some of everything). I think I have more detailed photos tho of the threading and the finish and the heads, but mostly the size comparison with other atomizers so you can visually see how it compares sizewise and lookswise to other tanks and batteries.

I figure I will add all of them eventually and do a 1 page head to head comparison with the same juices and same battery (Provari of course:)), and edit as I go. I mostly wanted to use the blog feature to see how it worked! But... I would appreciate some 'likes' of it for encouragement :p .
