All Web animation used this way is a distraction to the eye from the important text. Aren't you annoyed by those insipid dancing women ads found on so many Web pages? A page soon get busy with too many distractions -- and we seek out animation killers. Which is a shame. There's a valid place for animation. But it's not avatars or sigs, in my opinion. Fill a page with them, and the user soon leaves in disgust.

Course, spiders and roaches and snakes raise yet another issue ...
