In May I will turn 34 and I started smoking at 15. I have smoked off and on for almost 20 years. Roughly a year and a half ago I first heard of ecigs. Unfortunately it was on the news and in a negative light (and since everything on TV is true) I was skeptical to say the least.
In December of 2010 a friend of mine started using one and it took some time for me to warm up to the idea of using one. I bought my first pv from a mall store and used it along with analogs. It wasn't until I found this forum that things started to click.
About the same time I joined this forum I finally gave up analogs all together. It went well for a month but I have a very addictive personality and had a hard time staying off the analogs. At first it was one a week and then I had a major issue come up in my life and for a month I pretty much went back to analogs almost exclusively.
Once things started to calm back down I went back to my pv. At first it was pretty easy. I then went back to using both but I was smoking less then I ever have but wasn't happy with myself.
I finally came to the conclusion that I needed to change my mindset. I have always wanted to quit but was never ready to quit. I was finally ready and have now gone a full week without regret or desire using analogs.
I fell away from this forum (I used to spend most of my time on here) but I am back. And in a few months I will become an ecf veteran and I am rather proud of that. I feel re invigorated and I am excited and ready to spend my life smoke free.
I have struggled and will still struggle as I believe that I have an addictive nature similar to an alcoholic (once a smoker always a smoker, it takes just one). But I know everything will work out.
For those just starting out or those who have been at it but still struggle, I've been there as have many others. This forum has helped me tremendously and it will help you too. Please don't give up. Don't let life get you down. Its hard but it will get better.
As I have said this forum has helped me and I want to help you.
