posted about this a while ago, and thought i'd share my experiences up to date. today was an interesting one.
any comments are welcome and appreciated!
love vaping, has kept me off the cigs 100% for nearly 4 months now. i'm even starting to drop my nic dose! 18mg down to 12 so far, plan to go further just gradually.
i've had some strange issues though. at first, no problem. later on, seemed i was developing an allergy to certain flavours of juice. my symptoms were not the usual: chest congestion and coughing up phlegm mostly in the evening. got to the point where i was having difficulty breathing. also a small amount of fatigue. not that surprising - i have enough allergies for an army. mostly environmental though, very little in the way of food and nothing in medicine. but then inhaling this stuff into your lungs is a different matter. note that by now these issues are not due to quitting the cigs....its related to time of day and what flavour of juice i use. its gotten to the point where its virtually ALL juices now, just some are more tolerable than others.
so i set out to find out what the problem was. tried a pure VG juice. still problems. tried even just pure VG....still problems. dropping the nic seemed to help a little...but not eliminate. theres one clue at least. next, i got a few juices mixed up with pure PG....and guess what? had almost no symptoms today. turns out i have some strange VG intolerance. but that doesn't seem to be the whole story...still some mild irritation and coughing from this juice. its not a nice vape i have to say, almost no vapour and seems more harsh.
so my theory is this and maybe someone can chime in: i believe the VG is the main culprit here. however, i believe it is aggravated by the nic AND the flavouring acting as a mild irritant - but i believe the VG gives me a buildup of mucus in my upper lungs.
this would explain why certain flavours are worse than others and why the time of day is a factor.
any thoughts on the VG creating a smoother vape? any thoughts in general?
so far this is just my working theory. unfortunately its a new flavour i have - so i can't try a 50/50 mix to compare. however, i plan to add a little pure VG to the mix...maybe 10-20% to see how i tolerate that.
another test i can try is to get a 50/50 mix juice with no flavouring at all.
does any of this sound remotely plausible or am i the odd one out here?
