Hello!

I just joined because I am new to vaping (recently picked it up to help me quit smoking cigs), but now my tank is being weird. I used to have a Kagger tech, but the glass broke so I switched to "Herakles V2 Sense". I just screwed it on my battery (iStick Pico) with a new coil, filled it up with juice and now it's not working. It is hardly producing any smoke and when it does the bottom of the tank is incredibly hot after only a couple puffs... Does anyone have any idea whats going on?? I just quit smoking and the craving are real. D: Here's an image of my vape in case I messed up the name of something.

Thanks so much!!

The Herakles has both juice flow and air flow adjustment. If the liquid is not flowing to the coil via the wick(s), the coil is heating to the point of glowing. That generates a lot of heat.

Check the instructions that came with the tank for how to adjust liquid flow.

Chances are high that if the coil has been repeatedly heated without liquid, the wicking AND the coil are shot and need replacement.

That's a fairly advanced tank in the hands of a new vaper. You might want to go back to the Protank series until you get up to speed on sub-ohm vaping, coil construction & resistance, battery safety and what that Pico can and can't do.

The only thing is that it's all new, I unwrapped the coil myself so I don't know why it would have been heated without liquid... I do agree, I hate this advanced system it's so frustrating. I had the kagger tech battery and absolutely hated it (seemed more complicated for whatever reason). This one is actually easier for me. I'll youtube how to adjust the tank and hopefully, that resolves this issue. Thanks for the awesome advice!

I just wish they had a vape that was as simple as the cheap throw away kind with one button, but durable like this one. lol

The Pico is a great platform. I have one too, and about to get another (to retire an aging Vamo V2). What I was referring to is the tank. I've never used the Herkules, but I've seen it reviewed and it does have a lot of moving parts that new folks probably don't want to fool with just yet.

I've always been fond of Kanger's Protank 2 and the Protank series in general. They're easy to use, priced reasonably and rarely cause grief.

Genuine Kanger™ Protank 2 Glassomizer

That will work great on your Pico.

Something is certainly not right with that coil/tank.

If you want to vape at medium to medium-high power then don't go too far back in time should you decide to get a different tank.

If it was me, I'd take the Herakles apart, fit a new coil and prime it better just in case you never got it fully saturated, which would lead to 'getting very hot and not making proper vapor'.

This is a time where you don't really need to trust the REVIEW, but you might want to look at a few youtube review/demonstration videos to make sure you fully understand what you are doing.... For me, a video is worth a million words. I don't know the Herkules either, but from the sounds of things, something in your settings is off, most likely the juiceflow, airflow or both. If you have no juiceflow to a new coil, you will burn it the moment you start to try and vape it. So read up/watch something regarding your new tank, I have not always found the user manual to be oh so helpful. I know it's annoying to junk a coil right off the bat, but you really don't want to use it if there's that much heat on your tank.

Also, make sure you've primed the coil, there are different ways to do it, like placing a drop of juice inside, filling the tank and letting the coil slowly fill up, etc., and sucking through your tank WITHOUT firing it, so that it gets fully saturated, and swirling the juice around in the tank, etc.

Good luck, if you can't find a fix, I'd say take it to where you bought it (if able) or send it back in, things sound pretty unsafe ATM, even if you CAN get a draw at some point, you don't want hyper-hot liquid spilling out the top at YOU.

On a quick check, the site I looked on says it comes with 3 different coils..... one kanthal (power mode), one stainless steel (power and/or tc mode), and one nickel (tc only). Which coil are you using and in what mode?

I do very little tc vaping, so will confine my comments to the coils in power mode. According to the site, the kanthal and SS coils start at a recommended wattage of 35 and go up to as much as 80-100 watts. I think your pico will struggle with those higher wattages (above 60), especially if you are using a poorly rated battery.

You might be best served by putting the Herakles in storage until you gain some experience and get a dual battery mod with quality batteries.

I have a Kanger Tech EVOD Pro that I use for something to carry around with me. You can choose between 1.5, 1.0, and 0.5 Ohm atomizers. It takes 18650's. It's an all-in-one with a 4 ml tank. Top airflow that you don't adjust. It has all the safety features but the Wattage depends on battery state. So it's just a one button, simple mod. The 1.0 Ohm atomizers are great for MTL all the way through the life of the battery-and it lasts all day with those. If you want it a little stronger the 0.5 Ohm atomizers are pretty potent but it will last you all day using the 1.0 Ohm ones. You can get it for less than $20 online.

Hi Bridget & welcome
I am assuming you know what a dry hit is and haven't mentioned it because you are not getting one. It is bothering me a lot that you describe the tank as getting incredibly hot because no tank should get that way even after multiple vapes and no fiddling with airflow and juice control will cause that without frying your wick. If this was a rebuildable I would be suggesting you pull your coils away from the chamber walls but you are using a store bought coil. I'd switch it out and try another. Make sure you give it some prime time and start low on the wattage. Keep it in power mode to start. If you can figure out how to work the air & juice controls then set them to half open to start. Work upwards slowly on the wattage until the vape starts to get tasteless and dry then work back to what you like. Then start playing with the air control. Leave the juice control to last unless you're having more problems in which case ask for help with a Hercules and you'll get folks who are using that atty.
Good luck with it.
