I just got a new rig. Per the book it came wtih it is an "eGo variable volt/watt APV". I have the extension with [1] 18650 and [2] 18350, and the KangerTech Protank-II, Trustfire charger. The local shop I got it from recommended using N01, but mostly I seem to find the opposite while surfing. It is set at 3w and 3.7 volt with a 2.6 ohm atomizer. I have the 18650 in it right now and while N01 I am very happy with the performance. When I switch it to N02 I become very disappointed. Less than half the vapor.

Perhaps turn up the watts, volts? Both? Leave it in N01? If I do leave it in N01 what am I risking? If only the atomizer, then they are cheap enough. Battery life? Again, not too costly, unless it would happen quickly/frequently.

I guess I am asking if I will damage the "brain" of the unit. I am not finding any reference to that, so therefore inclined to think I am OK.

Slightly different question is if I do switch it to N02 and turn up the watts (maybe volts, think that is OK) then what am I risking?

I know, such a newbie.

N01 setting is the microprocessor using the "average" or "mean" method of calculating voltage. N02 is using RMS (root mean square)... what they are are two mathematical methods of voltage determination when the mod is set on watts.
N01 was a bad idea and should never have been an option... it can supply too much voltage and cook your atomizer and I wouldn't recommend it in your particular circumstance. N02 is much kinder to your atomizer.
You don't set "both" volts and watts... it's one or the other. On watts, the microprocessor "selects" the voltage for you based on your wattage setting and the read resistance of the atomizer. On volts, what ever you set it at, right or wrong, that's where it stays.

Read this article... it will go into better detail.

That helped a lot. I have set it to N02 and I bumped the watts to 7.5 and I am happy enough, though I will likely bump it up more. It makes sense now, I suppose I was setting volts which changed the watts, at 3w I wasn't getting squat. Simply knowing that one cannot set both clears up a ton of confusion here. I would like to know WHY the guy at the store didn't bother telling me this. Anyway, ...

Thank you!
