Cuban Cigars. How long do you guy's think it'll be until we can get them. The Media is reporting $100 USD worth as a limit. I wonder if that'll be per order or annually. No resale, so a buy in would probably be the way to go for those of us that extract at home. I have no idea which grower's have the best reputations. Now that I think of it, Cuban cigars and they're legendary quality are based on 1950's Grower's product. Or am I totally misinformed? Be nothin' new there.

I would be very interested in a buy in.

Hi all,

I have been a bit quiet and on the sidelines lately (yet again). It's been a strange old week with the Sydney siege that happened only a block away from where I work.

I wanted to mention something about MVJ natural tobacco cigars in particularly and specifically, the older versions which pre-dated Diane's more recent (recent, recent, as in the last month) extraction innovation.

Most of the cigars in the line up are a bit subtle to have any significant distinguishing qualities from each other. However, I have noticed that when I vape them in a tank, the flavour starts to shine when the tank is nearly empty! I've filled a tank with 5 Vegas Cask Strength cigar. Initially, I got little if any notable flavours and I felt as though I was vaping flavorless PG. Quite vapable actually. However, as the tank got emptier the flavour started to shine and strengthen in tobacco impact.

I've been vaping a long time but I didn't know that was possible.

Maybe it is not possible and this strange week in Sydney city is wreaking havoc on my senses.

Also, while I am here, I might as well mentioned that I purchased the Aspire Atlantis (to go with my Aspire Nautilus, Aspire Mini Nautilus and Aspire BDC). I also got the subohm mod which runs at 4.2 volts when fully charged.

To use an Aussie phrase 'it hits me for 6'. Sub-ohming is something I am not entirely familiar with so it is quite an eye opening experience. I am not sure I can get used to lung hits as being the norm and I reserve the Atlantis for the occasional few vapes during any given day. I find that 6mg juice is about equivalent to any other device I use (with the exception of the Magma) at 18 mg in terms of nicotine hit.

It hits like a freight train and I feel like a teenager trying out his first cigarette and coughing uncontrollably at times using the Atlantis.

First of all I'm glad you're alright seeing as how you were so close to the trouble.

I've tried the Ramon Bueso several times and have not gotten much flavor out of it so I'm puzzled. I'm not giving up on it, just curious. Using a Magma/1.0ohm/18-20w. It's probably a month and a half steeped. I have the 5 Vegas Cask Strength (bought at the same time) that I haven't opened yet.

Hi Anthony, IME the metal in tanks heat the juice as you vape, I've noticed a deeper flavor and color when I'm left with the last ml of juice in the tank.

When I use tanks, I run juices with ~16-20mg nicotine, whenever I drip or bottom-feed, my nic level is reduced to 6-12mg, and I still get the same satisfaction.

Anthony, I can only imagine that kind of experience and second our well wishes and thoughts for you.

As a former cigar smoker, I found that Diane's Perdomo Lot 23 was my favorite from her earlier work. I've recently tried her RP Edge Sumatra and find it to be quite a bit more flavorful and interesting. The spicy/sweet Sumatra wrapper comes through and adds to the complexity on exhale. The RP 1990 has less impact but after a couple of tanks I'm appreciating the smooth nuances which does mimic the actual cigar. I recommend giving those a try and they are both new and I'm assuming from her new extraction process. Less gunk than my own extractions, btw.

Howdy Anthony,

Not sure about the older cigar extracts but all but one of MVJ cigars I tried had a good flavor. I think they were all done with the new method though. The only one that still has no flavor is Gurkha Legend 2001. It still is basically flavorless after about 1 3/4 months steeping. On the other hand, La Perla Habana Black Pearl and 5 Vegas Classic Cigar have good body and are a little spicy; just the way I like it. The one she sent as a sample seems to have the most flavor and has become my favorite from MVJ; Man-O-War Ruinator. That one has all types of layers of depth going on with it. Although, I believe these were all done with her new extraction method. Can't really speak to the tanks as over the last month I have been vaping exclusively out of my Origen2 with kgd or rayon (thanks Tele). That has made my vaping life much better.

On another note, glad you're safe. Being that close had to hit home. That would have freaked me out for sure. Stay safe.

I know we now know it is not a NET but Ahlusion is re-releasing the original Smooth Criminal as The Godfather. For all you SC lovers this is good news!

Was the plan all along, and not due to the lack of success of the new SC which as we all know is massively more popular than the original :)

That is one of the MVJ trademarks in my opinion. The cigars actually change and grow in impact the more you vape. Well, up to a point. When the wick gets too singed it stops.

The Ramon Bueso was the only one I really thought fell flat. It is a complex tobacco blend that really didn't translate. It had flavor, but nothing stood up or stood out. It was just a low key tobacco flavor.

Vaping some of MVJ's Hearth & Home Signature - Obsidian Pipe Tobacco DIY, make, shake, bake and vape.

Wow another fine English blend from Diane, vaping with my RDA Veritas clone and organic cotton ( quick to dry burn the gunk and easy to change the cotton with a 28g. microcoil) much more mellow and smooth than the DE Meat Pie (a strong blend that has a tendency to fill your mouth with a fine woodsy flavor) and just the right amount of sweetness.
Can't wait to see how this steeps, if it lasts that long.

Moving on to.....MVJ's Country Squire Tobacco - Raisin Rum DIY....Now this is something different on my IGO-L RDA.

A new favorite for sure, just loaded with flavor, perfect amount of pipe tobacco with a real raisin flavor, reminds me of a bakery style raisin, that kind of subtle cooked taste...and a real brown sugar sweetness ( I'm pretty surprised at the 'natural' sweetness these NETS pipe tobaccos have, didn't expect that) I'm not getting much in the way of a rum flavor, but this is freshly made so we'll see, kinda hoping it stays the way it is.
One way to describe this is a "comfort vape" a pleasant weekend morning vape while reading the paper and waiting for the teapot to whistle...and watching the snow fall outside the window.

I've got some of this in the long term box. I'm not to sure about pulling it out. Boomer's version was a beast. It was strong enough that the room note could leave your clothes smelling like latakia. It was strictly for the hard core Latakia fans.

I'm putting the Perdomo Lot 23 back in the storage box. It started out great, but a little deeper in the bottle and it isn't holding up. It just tastes a little inmature. It is mostly barnyard, espresso, and sweet tobacco with a touch of sweet nuts. It tastes like a cigar that hasn't had proper humidor time. A ton of potential that just needs a little time to come around to the blenders vision.

With Obsidian you have to go light on the flavor ration. Around 12-15% will get you a smoother ride. Being an Latakia junkie I go 20%. :vapor:

That's where I'm at...20%, I start all my MVJs there...and I like my flavors with punch.
I was never a pipe smoker so I'm new to the tobacco variations, is it the Latakia that gives English blends that distinctive earthy/woodsy taste?
