I guess I'm not gonna order a natilus till they fix this mess.I come unjointed when new parts don't work.

yeah i know it kinda sucks, TBH tho, the naut is an extremely good tank over all, it just the coil heads.. My guess is that they will eventually fix the head production so the 5 pack wont be a waste of money! Either way its always a good idea to learn to rebuild the head anywys soo the aspire heads don't matter that much.. the tank itself is soo worth the money! great performer and very well built

I would respectfully advise any one who has heads that look like those marked 'bad' in the picture not to ditch them. I've just dismantled the Nautilus I'm currently vaping (it is performing perfectly) & the head looks like the heads marked as 'bad' in the picture. I've checked my other heads & there is a slight variation (1mm) in hole placement. But I'm experiencing no issues. I love this thing. I don't know what is causing people the problems they are having. But in my case hole placement makes no difference & the vape is fab. I hope you get to the bottom of it. :)

Hmm just popped in a "bad" head, tried it out all day. It seems to be hitting alright, no issues what so ever and non of the dry hits i had the first time around with a "bad" head. Other have mentioned also that the bad heads work well, leads me to believe that there might be another small defect somewhere.

As mentioned before - DONT THROW THE BAD HEADS AWAY!

What I don't understand is when I get a brand new coil, put it in and check the resistance and it's good so that tells me both coils should be working, and I go to use it and the flavor is ok but vapor production is bad, equal to an old used coil. So I try another coil, they physically look exactly the same, read the same ohms, and one will work amazing and the other is awful. What actually causes this? Coil position? Something else? I'm not into rebuilding (yet) and I love my Nautilus but it sucks paying so much for coils and having 1 or 2 out of 5 not work well. The last 5 pack I ordered had 2 coils in it that had defective threading on the part of the coil the screws into the base. Part of the threads were missing and the ones that were there were rough. It wouldn't thread more than like an 1/8 of a turn, and being that the coil is what holds the tank together I can't trust that. I did contact the vendor and they credited my account $3 a piece for them after I sent them a picture. I hope the quality of these coils gets better and the price comes down a little bit. I really love the Nautilus with a good performing coil in it. It's the best clearo I've ever used. It's just getting expensive is all. I've also been considering giving some 50/50 unflavored a try and see how much that extends the life of the coils. One of the juices I have right now that I really like clogs the coils up really bad. It's dark and sweet, also 50/50.

Why aren't more people building coils? I learned right off the bat to save the money!

These heads aren't the easiest to build. Localizing the coil and the proper amount of wick material can be very difficult for some.

I build on my Russian 91% and my Kayfun (clone).

I have the Nautilus and other tanks for when I either don't have the time or don't feel like building a coil. Fill and vape.

These Nautilus coils are very hit and miss, when they work, they're great, when they don't=waste of money. And some packs will have all good coils, some will have one or two. PITA sometimes.

I'm into day 5 vaping only the Nautilus with the stock 1.6 head, using a 50/50 BWB juice. I keep my device set at 3.2 and usually use the two smaller holes and get a really nice vape. However, when I top off the tank, I get burnt taste if I fill the tank past the 4ml mark. This is crazy I know, but at least at the moment, it seem to tank runs better filled under the 5ml mark, at least with this juice.

Just thought I would add, that the heads that don't work right for me are the ones that the wick is not lined up with the holes, and the ones that do work the bottom wick is directly lined up with the holes. By looking through the top is how I can see if they are lined up correctly so far.

I wish I could get a picture to show but if the plus shape the wicks are in don't line up with the holes in the bottom it has been bad performance constantly

Ok. So this Nautilus is driving me a little crazy. I'm a 3-week new vapor, already used up the two stock heads--the 1.6 worked for a week the 1.8 is just burnt and horrible out of the box. Purchased another 11 heads in 3 different places. 1 worked for a week, 1 just bad out of the case. 5 of those are fine for a day too but bad again so I tried running them under water. 1 is resurrected after rinsing the other no go. 3 are sitting around while I just pop a new one in and that's fine for now. This is getting expensive. I thought the nautilus head can last for a few weeks. Doesn't seems to be the case. Running the 1.6 at 3.5 and 1.8 at 3.8. I've dripped a few drop on eliquid into in when I put it in and waited almost 10 minutes and puff on it 10 times without power also but it's successful rate is kinda low in my opinion. Being a new vapor this is a frustrating experience....

Did you also post about this on reddit? (Just curious)

What juice do you use? Does this happen with all juices? VG and certain flavors gunk up faster.

There have been some reports about bad build quality of nautilus heads, maybe there are some clones around? Maybe try buying new ones from a totally different supplier? I can only speculate because I didn't have that problems. But I switched to mostly using my rebuildable tank now (Fogger V4) anyway. The QC on the heads doesn't seem too great. You can also rebuild them yourself.

I sometimes dry burn my Nautilus heads. First rinse them under hot water, then dry burn them carefully until they glow orange and stop smoking, rinse them again (to wash out the ash). They seemed to be pretty solid and generally work after dry burning. I'm not sure if the taste / wicking suffered after dry burning, but it's imho a good way to revive them or do maintenance on them. I have also let them soak sometimes. Probably the best way is to change heads every tank and wash them out under hot water and let them dry by themselves and only dry burn occasionally.

PS: Do you have gugling? Maybe you have too much liquid in your heads or too low power, and that causes your coils to gunk up?

Found this in the New Members forum, very interesting:

    Dear xxxxxxxxx,

Thank you for giving us your feedback. In order to uphold our reputation for producing high quality vaping products, we are addressing recent complaints regarding the Aspire Nautilus coils.

After further analysis of the coils, we have pinpointed what was giving certain e-liquids a burnt taste. We found that the rope fibers inside the coils were not thick enough for the atomizer to reach appropriate heating levels. Thankfully, these rope fibers were only used in a limited number of products.

We have corrected the issue and are now using rope fibers that will allow customers to enjoy the full flavor of the e-liquid.

The Aspire team is taking full responsibility for these products. We are going to fix this problem by provide our direct distributors and wholesalers with the modified replacement coils. Customers can exchange their defected coils with the new coils at the store where they purchased their Aspire Nautilus from. The number of new coils issued will be proportional to the number of original Aspire Nautilus products purchased.

We apologize for any inconvenience that this may have caused. Our research and development team is working hard to provide the best possible product to our customers. We are constantly seeking ways to improve our current line of products while also developing new products that will give consumers the high quality vaping experience that they are looking for.

Your feedback is extremely valuable and we look forward to our future work together.

    Best&warm regards,

Oh interesting. I guess this means some hoopleheads used wicks that are too thin and do not touch the coil so part of the coil overheats?

Sigh...I've already dissembled my defective coils and threw them away...should have saved them to get and exchange..

No. I do not have reddit. :)

Yeah I did prime it and I used it with the airflow on its smallest setting. Tried dry pulls as well. Works for one or two drags but then its straight back to dry hits. I've heard of people using straight vg juices in it without issue. I'm starting to hate this thing.

I can't help you specifically, I don't even own the Nautilus....but I Found dry hits and flooding to be two of the BIGGEST problems with clearos in GENERAL.

My experience with clearos ranges from FANTASTIC, to TERRIBLE. When clearos are working well, they are fantastic...and can even compare to my kayfun. However, clearos are finicky, and they all mess up time to time (at least in my experience).

I switched from clearos to a kayfun lite plus a few months ago, and never looked back. I now have 2 RDAs, and 1 kayfun lite clone that I use on a daily basis....EVERYTHING else I've put away. All the clearos I once used now sit a drawer and gather dust.
