for some reason, the search function is not working for me.

I got a 5 pack of extra long 510 attys from TW about 3 weeks ago, and rotate through them with my ego. I have cleaned them twice in that time with 70% isopropal, and left them in front of a fan over night.

A couple of them have developed a nasty taste, even when I know there is liquid in there. I am getting plenty of vape, but a burnt taste every drag. Is this a sign that the atty is on its way out? (I am dripping witout a drip tip, just an empty cart) The cart is not melting.

I may need to invest in some cartomizers, as I hear the taste is better. I am well stocked with Juices, and should not have to spend much more except on attys or cartos.

Thanks for all everyone adds to this forum!

Doesn't sound like they are on their way out yet, at least mine almost all die a slow death of working less and less - and that starts after months of use. Burned taste is usually something you can get out again.
1) I think you are overcleaning them, atties notoriously live shorter with too much cleaning.
2) Isoprop is something you need to make very sure you get it all out, it's not very healthy to inhale.
3) Burned taste is usually either a sign of too little liquid or too much in the wrong place, that is the threading between atty and battery.
Try making sure they have enough liquid after cleaning them: Put in 5-10 drops of pure PG, wait a few minuts, blow out what's too much, and only then put your regular liquid in them.

Do research your cartos very well: Most are plastic burners who can and do burn their filling, and you don't want to inhale that. Greencig, e2 and one more, I believe, can't do that for technical reasons. They have other drawbacks, though. All have very hot vape and are slightly annoying to refill.
Especially if you have an eGo or eGo-style PV, there are many other options for atties, not just regular 510s and cartos.

I had an atty that did the same thing. I tried everything to get that burnt taste out. I posted the same question as you about three weeks ago. Anyway a knowledgeable member suggested (when it happens to him) just to remove the bridge and wick altogether from the atty. It's not hard - just need to be a little careful. After I did that the burnt taste was gone. Now I remove the bridge and wick on all my attys.

Note: This technique only works for direct dripping.

Here's a video on how to do it...

I'm having about the same situation with the 5 pack I received from TW as well. I did not clean mine at all - just blew out the primer - and I use the carts instead of dripping. Really seems the extra length is counter productive to the way the 510 works and the draw/heat factor. I've used a couple of standard 510's and they did not have any of these issues.

For now, I've got them in the emergency rations box for that dreaded day my order is late and my last atty had died :D

If some of them taste nasty and some taste good then you know you are not suffering from a case of the bad taste bug. I would just throw them out. I have been wondering if cleaning attys is worth it. In my experience after I clean a atty its never the same again. Especially boiling them. I will never boil again. The best way to clean for me has been Isopropolyne alcohol but I worry that that might not be so good for me.
