I've found my set-up with a Twist and EVOD's, now looking for my wife. I have finally convinced my wife to give up the Blu's due to their high cost carts and horrid battery life. She simple will not use a tank of any kind due to the look. What I need is a simple battery, preferably 650mah for the physical size, and a compatible ohm carto. I have already ordered a pink 900mah from fasttech with some other goodies before she even asked. It doesn't have a voltage listed so I guess I'm looking for the best all around ohm carto. If there's nothing else any better I'll just order another as they are incredibly cheap. Don't really want a variable voltage or I'd just get a twist. Simple is the key here. If there is an auto battery worth a flip that would be even better.

While I'm here, give me a quickie on carts. Do you just use them until it starts to taste burnt and refill then? How long do they typically last? I know you can't change flavors which isn't an issue, we just use plain ol' menthol.

Thanks folks.

Personally I love my Boge cartos. I use the standard resistance which are about 3.ohm. There are also low-resistance I believe which sit at about 1.7ohm. I've tried Smoktech cartos and a few others are Boges are hand down the best. They never flood and are consistent (haven't gotten a dud yet in about 50 cartos). Also they are virtually the same price. A good site to order from is ljesmokes, I believe it 5.50 for a 5 pack. The best deal you will find. Most my cartos last about a week, and I vape very heavily and at high voltage, about 5.0-5.7.

I made a beginner's guide to juice delivery devices in my blog, which includes info on cartomizers with a video tutorial on how to fill them:

E-Cigarette Forum - Baditude - Blogs

There are primarily two major and two minor brands of cartomizers:

Boge - has a more densely packed filler material which may be slower to fill and may cause some dry hits because of slower wicking of juice. Less likely to flood, though. Available in both a standard 35mm and XL 45mm length.

Smoktech - has a less densely packed filler material which may be faster to fill and wick faster to the heating element. However they may flood more easily. Smoktech also makes a dual coil cartomizer, but I wouldn't recommend their use with a small mAh eGo battery.

Ikenvape - this is the smaller vendor. Specially designed by the owner to meet strict standards and made by a manufacturer in China. My favorite carto for a cartotank. Due to their popularity, the supply can't keep up to demand. Better flavor, longer time of use. Only sold by Ikenvape.

Kanger - I've not tried these, but they use a horizontal heating coil where the other cartos use a vertical coil. Not many sites sell these.

If someone prefers a warmer vape, a low resistance coil should be used (1.5 - 1.9 ohm). If a cooler vape is preferred a standard resistance coil (2.0 - 2.5 ohm) should be used.

Cartomizers typically should last 1 - 3 weeks. When the pull becomes stiff or the flavor production suffers, its time to replace it. Thicker (vg content over 50/50) or darker flavors will shorten a cartomizer's life. Since you can not see the juice in cartomizers, it's wise to frequently top them off with e-liquid way before their juice level drops and you start to get a burnt taste. Once a carto is burnt, you'll never get that taste removed. Discard it. A standard length carto will hold approximately 20 drops of e-liquid. Using a wood tooth pic to plug the center air hole speeds up the time it takes to fill from the top. Other cartomizer users use the condom fill method, which takes a long time.

Some people re-cycle their used cartos by cleaning them, but I don't bother. They are meant to be a disposable device. I spent over $5 a day on cigarettes and thought nothing of it; spending $2 on a carto that I can expect to last me 2 weeks is a bargain.
