So, I am a new user, and I bought about 20 carts with my first order. All of them were so harsh I thought that either there was something wrong or that I was allergic...if I breathed it in my lungs felt like they were on fire.

But I was determined not to give up.

I bought a kit for a friend and added some carts for myself. In the order I got the Premium Chocolate Banana...and to my delight, I could breathe it in with no problem! YAY! It was yum.

However, the other Premium flavor was un-vapable. (Look! I made a word!)

I wish I could try them all, but I don't have the money to experiment...so I thought I would ask the community which pre-filled flavors are not as harsh as others.

And just to be clear, I have tried Hilton, Green Tea, Coffee Sampler, Cinnamon Roll, Clove, tobacco Sampler, and Pomegranate in the regular, and Chocolate Banana and English Toffee in the Premium. Chocolate Banana is the only one I can breathe in...the others are so harsh it makes my throat close and hurts my lungs. All of these are 11 mg.

Any help with smoother carts is appreciated! Thanks!

Daphne,

I was concerned about the mg of nicotine as well, because I started at 11 mg ..then gradually went down to 8 and 6 and sometimes 0..until my last order for some dumb reason I thought I would "UP" my nic levels and found out quickly that 18mg is WAY TOO HARSH for me ~ even in my favorite tried and true flavors. I now have an order placed for some 0 and 4 mg strengths to cut my 18 mg strengths.

Maybe 11 mg is just too strong for you? I have a lot of carts though so now I buy mostly juice and just re-fill my carts.

If you would like, I would be happy to send you some of my lower strength juices for you to try out so you don't have to spend the $$ just to see if that's the problem. Also ~ I cut my stuff with VG because I think it gives me better vapor production, I don't have a problem with straight PG ~ BUT I have read a lot of people are allergic to and highly irritated by PG and can only vape VG.

So my first two thoughts were that the MG is too high for you ...or you might have reaction to the PG.

PM me if you want me to send you some lower strength juice to try.

Ironically I think you might be into the flavors I wasn't into. If I had to guess I would think you might actually like the pear / apple types of flavors. I found the irish cream to be real smooth too I guess (too smooth for me).

Also, you might consider trying a VG cartomizer as well... it's a lower temp vapor which doesn't give me the throat hit I want... but it might be a relief for you if you are getting choked up for instance.

Also, I went from Marlboro Reds to 8mg cartridges ok (pack a day) and I'm doing ok. You might be over your nicotine comfort zone too.

And lastly, make sure you have all 4 of the air holes around the base of the cartomizer free from being obstructed by the label. If those are plugged you will get a stronger vapor.

Others will probably have some good advice in here. I've been impressed with what I have read while lurking around pre-registration.

You are so sweet, MM! That is an interesting thought...I might go down in strength to see if that's the problem. But the 11mg Chocolate Banana is perfect...I'm just getting bored of vaping one flavor. lol

I would take you up on your offer, but I am useless with the juice. I got a freebie juice and made a terrible mess. I'm sure that with practice I could do it, but I am too impatient. :D

Maybe I'll try some 8 and 4 to see if that cuts down on the burn. Are there any flavors that are kind of smoother than others? I'm not a fan of the flowery ones...but I love the taste of the cinnamon and might try some sweeter flavors.

Thanks for the advice...and if anyone else has been through this and found a less harsh flavor that they enjoy, I'd love the tips!

And thanks, BT and ALC! I'll use that info when I make my next order!

Daphne,

Okay...the offer still stands though if you decide you want to try filling your carts at a later date.

I did just do a juice review tonight ~ I would post the link but I have NO IDEA how to do that. You can maybe click on my name and do "find all posts by MaryMarcelle" to find it it's labeled "My Extensive V4L Juice Review". I don't know if they have them in carts, but the MOST mild juice that I tried out of that list was the apple/cranberry/cinnamon. It was very mild IMO. I think the caramel might be considered pretty mild as well. (but I don't like it)

I think a lower MG banana might also be a good fit for you, I hate to recommend it unmixed...but I would consider it a mild flavor.

In case you can't find the thread...here's copy/paste of the write-up I did for those two flavors. KEEP IN MIND that I still stand by my opinion that taste is completely subjective and I cannot guarantee that you will feel the same about them as I did:

Apple Cinnamon Cranberry (Low)
I don’t taste the apple or the cranberry, but I taste a very very mild and slight cinnamon taste. This is a very mild flavor, but still a tasty vape. If you like mild flavors, this is a good one. Out of curiosity I mixed it with a little of my cinnamon roll and that gave it a nice kick. Great mix.

Caramel (Med)
This one has a mild, slightly sweet, but undistinguishable flavor to me. I didn’t like it alone so it went into my mix

pg dries out the throat. high throat hit means damage. you're probably a real smoker who inhales, and probably inhaled a lot. some people are either sensitive to pg, which i think is a lot of people, or could even be burned polyfill and burned nylon wicks. and banana was actually the only one i enjoyed the taste while i could still taste the flavors. i tasted the flavors the first hour, but it gradually reached the point where i couldn't tell the difference between flavors because it all tasted like glass. on 2nd day, it became painful. now, i'm smoking analogs and sucking on peppermint lozenges. i don't regret the vacuum sensor going in one of the batteries on the 2nd day now that i'm sick of them.

unfortunately i bought from 5 different vendors to try out different "juices" and acquire supplies. i should have just bought a kit so i would only have to demand a refund from one place. at this point, i feel scammed on a product dysfunctional on many levels. ban and class action might be more appropiate than refund so other people don't have to go through this.

Ok, in another of your posts recently you say this:

"I'm using 18-24 mg flavors from different sources, both liquid and pre-filled, and have diy supplies."

And you are explaining here that you were tasting a bunch of flavors over a relatively short time period (one hour?) in your post above (presumably from various sources).

If I had to guess, you might be accidentally pushing yourself WAY overboard on nicotine. If you are constantly sucking on various flavors of high-nic carts while trying out various flavors you could get rather ill.

Also your taste, smell, sight, lungs, everything can be overstimulated. You really shouldn't go all out and try everything at once... especially when they all are high-nicotine!

Stand in sunlight and try and then try to read something in a dark room. Brush your teeth with mint toothpaste and try and drink orange juice right afterwards. You really can't mix stuff like that and expect a good result.

Daphne, I agree with those before (above) me who suggested that you may try to lower your nic strength. You mentioned that you tried the coffee sampler? I find CMF and Cappucino to be very mild and rich flavors. I also like SMILIN menthol (it's not really menthol, more like a chocolate/mint/menthol blend, very refreshing). I was an ultra lights smoker and my favorite strenghts are 8 and 4. I do use 11 also, on occasion. 18 mg is really strong for me. I have 1 box for emergencies, but I can only take a few puffs without getting rather jittery. I also like butterscotch, pear and pineapple, but pear delivers serious TH, so be careful.

Dear Henry, I'm sorry you had such a bad experience, but a lot of other people are actually quite satisfied and are successfully abandoning cigarettes in favor of vaping, so calling for class action suits is perhaps a little harsh...

Nothing is perfect for everybody. Have you considered FDA-approved methods of quitting smoking? Gums, patches, Zyban, Chantix? They may work for you. They have failed me, though.

Good luck. Get your refunds and try something else. Snus, perhaps?

I have attempted 5 replies to Henry. It is almost beyond me.
Having deeply inhabited these threads for a good while, the phrase "so other people don't have to go through this" is sort of like reading a threat of litigious action against coffee, in a coffee-lovers forum, by someone who burnt his tongue or got jittery, "so that others wouldn't have to go through this." A hundred heads pop up at the happy bistro, saying, "huh???"
(Caffeine is also dehydrating. I do love my coffee. My friend prefers tea.)

And, "you're probably a real smoker who inhales, and inhales frequently..."
Well, yes, these are not being marketed to non-smokers. They are alternatives to cigarettes, though we all inhale differently, cigs and PVs - some lightly, and into the mouth first, some deeply and straight on through.
You see, the smoke/vapor doesn't come OUT unless you inhale, dear.

Again, analogously, "You're probably a real coffee drinker, who swallows, and swallows frequently."
Huh?
Do have a snu, Henry. And a spot of tea?

Daphne, the flavors suggested above are good ones to try, as well as lower nic. Drink plenty of liquids for the first few weeks; hydrate. (I did, and never had any discomfort; analogs had my throat sore for decades, I didn't even realize it until I started vaping, was used to it, along with a lot of other unpleasant physical effects from the cigs. But boy did I hydrate. Proactively, so no problems. At this point all that's long settled down, and flavors that seemed a little harsh are among my favorites.) Best of luck to you, and welcome.

I think I hear the sharp, precise clik clik of Adren's shoes approaching brilliantly down the hall. I will go hide amongst Katya's copiously courteous petticoats.

When I ordered my first carts I had the idea that 36mg would make it easier to quit the analogs. What I found in reality was most the flavors were really harsh and I didn't like them. Now I've got a ton in 18mg and it's much better. I think some 11mg trials are in order next. So basically from my limited experience the higher nic strengths are definitely more harsh.
