I posted this earlier this afternoon, but it has since moved to the second page of this forum and is not likely to receive any responses, as it is rather lengthy. If you don't mind reading multiple paragraphs, the original thread can be found here:

http://www.e-cigarette-forum.com/forum/new-members-forum/511079-need-advice-new-hardware.html

I am currently using a Johnson Creek Vea with Canteens (clearomizers).

To sum up, this is what I'm looking for:

Long battery life
Large-capacity tank
Large amounts of vapor
Cleanable atomizer (to help save money)
Sturdy drip tip
Vegetable glycerine, low throat-hit, non-tobacco liquids

*Side note: I prefer VG to PG, as the PG stings my throat pretty bad.

First off - Hi and Welcome to ECF

Hmmm - My personal recommendation MVP2 with and Iclear 30 from 101vape for 39.99. 2600 Mah battery, VV/VW, Ohm Reader etc. Iclear30 comes with its 3.0 ml heavy duty rotatable drip tip.

As far as liquids - a little more direction would help - non tobacco still leaves fruits, teas, desserts, coffees, candies, vanillas.... Taste is very subjective too. Look around the General E Liquid discussion here on the forum and you will find tons of user description on 453658438 flavors. There is bound to be something there that piques your interest!

I tend to favor more sweet flavors with low throat hit. I'm not knowledgeable enough to know what causes some liquids to have a harsh hit and other to be smooth, so any advice there would be appreciated. I need a smooth hit because I have to vape all day long, and my throat is generally very sore by the end of the day. I figure that if I have to vape, I might as well enjoy it. This is only my third post, so I can't really ask for help in the topic-specific forums yet.

Does the iClear have issues with gurgling and leakage? Also, is this an atty + tank setup or an all-in-one clearomizer that has to be replaced when the atty burns out?

I have to agree, i switched to an MVP 2 cause i wanted something with a long battery life. It has worked great for me i get about 5-6 days off a full charge. As far as the tank i have 2 Protank 2;s and i am looking for a replacement. i ordered up a iclear 30s i will post after i get it. If you are looking for a huge tank check out Avail vapor they have a G50 tank it holds 5 ML. Good luck!

The Iclear30 has a replaceable coil. So you spend a few bucks every few weeks for just the coil head.

In the general e-liquid, I know you cannot post, however you will find tons of reviews and descriptions on flavors. Look through the posts and you are bound to find some great vendors to go on your "must try" list :)

As far as throat irritation - Nicotine is an irritant, Cinnamon is an irritant, Menthol, to some PG is an irritant. Try all or high VG ratios. VG tends to be a smoother vape with less throat hit. My go to vendor in general is goodlifevapor. They have a new high VG line called Nebbia. The other flavors are mixed at their determined ratio. I would guess its at least 50/50. Anything higher than 50 pg is a bit irritating to me. You can try a few variations to see what makes you the happiest. Try like 100 VG, 70/30 vg/pg and 50/50 (delete anything you have already tried) and find out what makes you the happiest. Some say VG mutes flavors - from good vendors - I have found plenty high or all VG liquids that taste lovely.

I would also recommend the MVP 2.0 or the VAMO v5 if you don't mind purchasing batteries and a charger. The VAMO is a pretty long mod so if you are ok with that, it is a cheap VW mod.

the MVP 2.0 is vw/vv and has an internal battery, the battery is 2600mah and it runs like a pure beast. It maxes at 5 volts and 11 watts so you can get a decent vape off of it.

Get some iclears, any model of iclear work and I personally enjoy them all from Iclear 16 and up. Or, a vision vivi nova..they are some cheap tanks that really get the job done. They are on sale at mad vapes for a little over 3 bucks so I would buy a handful even as backups if you choose to go down another route with tanks.

Vision 3.5ml Vivi Nova Tank Clearomizer, Clear

I always rock 80/20 VG/PG when I can, produces a good vape while leaving room for some throat hit to add that extra zing to the flavor.

MVP2.0 is my personal choice. Easy to use, great battery life and built in batteries. I also like the iClear 30. 3ml of juice and great vapor production for a very reasonable price. I have found that Heather's Heavenly Vapes has very smooth flavors with low irritation. I have 3 flavors from their purity line in 100% VG and there is almost no irritation in my vapor. The only issue you might have is the high VG is very thick. If you are using tanks that do not wick efficiently you might have some dry hits.

Thanks! I'll keep shopping around for new flavors, and I'll definitely check out the liquids section of the forum.

The box shape of the MVP2 is a bit off-putting, but I'll keep an open mind. I'll try to get one ordered soon, and I'll post with my thoughts when it comes in. It would be nice to have such a large battery, and one that can be used to charge my cell phone, to boot.

101vapes has been sold out of the mvp2 for a few weeks. i have no idea why people keep telling folks to go there. at least you can put in your email for when they're back in stock i suppose.

I have seen tanks that don't use wicks at all. What's the difference? Are some better than others?

My personal favorite is a carto-tank. I use a glass tank (IBTanked and Hand Blown from Vapor-Mania) that encases a little cartomizer - it is like the cartridge for a blue with a hole in it so that the liquid in the tank saturates the filler. The drawback here for you would be the drip tip more than anything. My OH breaks every darn drip tip he touches - so I do NOT get him carto tanks LOL. They are wonderful and I love them, but they do require a bit of a delicate touch - they can slip off the carto if you arent careful too - that means juice every where!

In addition to Iclear30 and Carto-Tanks I alway have a few evods, Vivi novas and/or MT BCCs. I like a lot of flavors. LOL

To give you an idea on the size of an MVP2 (photos of it not in someone's hand are quite deceiving) mvp2.jpg
