either a phoenix drip type that doesnt have those silly pinholes, but screws or knurlings instead.. or a tank one that doesnt have hotspot issues like the Aga-T. i got both of these, and want better. thanks

The aga or any genesis style will not have hot spots if you stick a ceramic wick in it. And that is just the first great thing about ceramic. Wait till you taste it . . . .
I'm working with a pegasus A7 which is very similar to the phoenix and its pretty easy to work with. Give it a try, if you don't like it, its only a $15-20 loss compared to any other more expensive RBA's or RBTA's.
