Need advice on what to get.

I was recently introduced to e-cigs from a friend and I'm looking to get one for myself but I'm not really sure where to look. I've got a few characteristics that I would like to see in the one I eventually get, though none of them are set in stone.

- Preferably a black pen-style
- The ability to refill the cartridges
- low price, but not so low as to sacrifice quality
- a reliable supplier
- somewhere to order the refill liquid

Any and all suggestions are appreciated. Thanks.

I highly recommend the joye 510 with the manual battery

Readily available at lots of reputable suppliers and a really nice e-cig.

Joye510 might be one of the hottest recent addition to all the e-cig models. Supposedly superb vapor production, decent cartridge life, and acceptable battery life - but it might not be the most user-friendly nor readily available models out there. Also, they tend to be a bit more expensive side especially when you compare from the cheap goodies from China.... Most starter kits run for about 50 dollars. Some more expensive - but they do come with extra atomizer, which is a good thing.

I myself have 3 different e-cigs - rn4081 (aka npro), DSE901, and DSE801... but all with ups and down. I'm actually thinking of buying a Joye510 myself for all-round e-cig.. reading up all the reviews.

I second that My first 510 was from another supplier and it had the automatic switch. After complaining about the auto switch, enough ppl here told me to try the manual one. Ordered from the widow and it was here in a flash and its awesome

What is the main benefit of the Joe510? Is it the manual switch? If so, why not suggest some of the mods out there that offer really long battery life?

I'm still only 3 or 4 weeks in so I don't know the answer. Are there Chinese suppliers who carry the Joye510 ? What type of atomizer does it use?

I own several models of e-cigs. The 510 has more vapor than almost anything... Even more than the e-cigar I had!

Battery life if okay, I guess... I've never found batteries that really hold up for long but the PCC option is why I purchased my first one in the first place - cause my batteries run out and I found myself obsessing over having enough charged batteries and making sure I had chargers at home, work, car, etc...

The PCC allows me to keep a charged battery with me almost always. I keep two PCC's in my purse. I'm obsessive. LOL

Here's a video comparing the three I use the most. At that time, I didn't have the manual battery yet. Now, I use the 510 almost exclusively. I still do like the 901 for first thing in the morning or if I've got a sore throat or something.

I agree that any PV (personal vaporizer) with a manual switch such as the 510, which allows you to heat up the atomizer as long as you want should provide better throat hit = warmer vapor. I've also seen many good reviews on the 510. But to get "consistent" throat hit over a longer period of time, the nature of battery technology requires a battery with more power. That's why the Screwdriver (SD) and the Zi Moshi, which have manual switches and 1000+mAh batteries, are so popular. My SD battery will last 7-8 hours. And although they are more expensive initially, the batteries only cost $3. Compare that to the cost of traditional PV batteries that cost $14 - $19 each. Actually the Zi Moshi is only $90 and is made here in the US. Another advantage to all manual switch PV's is there is no worry about getting liquid in the battery compartment and gumming up the auto switch.

Going with a mod right from the get-go might be a bit more difficult for some folks, and something like the Dura-C might provide a smoother transition from analogs to e-cigs.

I will also say that I have not been thrilled with the battery life of my Dura-C. I generally get anywhere from 1-2.5 hours with my batteries. However, others have reported much longer use times than I've experienced. The Dura-C now has a USB passthrough battery available. (Mine should be arriving today.) I'm hoping that will help with the battery life issue.

All very good points, Julie. I started with the 901 and migrated to the Screwdriver. Just for back up purposes, alone, I would want more than one PV.
