I started vaping several years ago. First used a joyetech ego-cc. Then I purchased an Aspire Nautilus mini tank and used with an Eleaf iStick mod battery. The threads on the tank stripped so I couldn't attached. I then purchased an Aspire Plato but it leaked so bad I returned it under warranty and yes the vaper store determined defective so now I need to order something else. I still have some BVC 1.8 coils I used in the Nautilus so would like something that will use those coils and will also use sub ohm coils. I also purchased a 18650 battery I planned to use with the Plato.
Would someone suggest a unit that will use BVC 1.8 coils, and also sub ohm coils, and a 18650 battery, and specifically is known not to LEAK. Thanks in advance for an help/suggestions.

Welcome :)

If you intend to stick with Nautilus BVC coils but want the option to sub-ohm you are in a grey area.
Basically, the answer is to be less demanding (sorry) and buy two tanks.

Being pedantic, you don't need an 18650 battery, you need an 18650 mod.

Personally, I'd buy a Pico or an Evic mini VTC. Triton mini tank maybe, maybe even another Nautilus, perhaps look at Cleito too.
I don't actually think there is genuine tank that takes both. Sub-ohm requires airflow and MTL requires less airflow. The only tank in my collection that kind of covers both bases is the Topfill Subtank.
You could argue that if a subtank takes a 0.15 coil but also a 1.5 coil then it suits everybody. But it's a Kanger product.
I would say people make far too much distinction between something just over 1.0ohm and something just under. The airflow and ability to control the power (VV/VW/TC) is far more relevant.

I don't own one yet (gonna purchase soon though) but if you buy the PICO kit it comes with a Melo III tank that's pre-installed with with sub ohm coils but will fit 1.8 Triton coils. That's what most people have been recommending to that's what I'm gonna do when I buy it.

I really like my Pico. My wife has the VTC Mini and it's pretty nice too, but the Pico feels a bit better in my hand and is a little smaller. There is an updated version of the VTC Mini, called the VTwo Mini and a VTC dual that can be configured to use one or two batteries (smaller in the one battery confiq.). I haven't read much about the latter yet, but it sounds interesting. As for tanks, the Pico can be bought with a Melo III tank, but I wasn't overly impressed. I bought the new Aspire Atlantis EVO and it rocks! I wasn't sure if I liked DL after using the Melo and my wife's Cubis, but the EVO sold me. There's no spitting or sputtering with the EVO and the juice just tastes so good. The EVO is also backwards compatible with older Atlantis/Triton coils. This means that you could use 1.8 ohm coils in it (Melo can use the same coils as the EVO/Triton/Atlantis as well), but I'm not sure that the air flow would work that well with MTL.

PS If you go with the EVO tank get the extended version for about $2 more. It allows you to configure the tank for 2ml or 4ml.

Rather interestingly (or not) I find it notable that many experienced vapers avoid the tanks that come with kits. When the Evic mini VTC came out, loads of folk (including me) just plain refused to take the Joyetech tank. The same is absolutely true for the Pico. I must have seen (gosh...) at least 40-50 of these at various vape meets and nobody seems to use the Melo III.
I can't say whether it's good or not (although I had nothing positive to say about the tank that came in the Evic VTC kit)..... it's just not in my orbit. Before November (the end of legal tanks over 2ml) I shall be buying a few more Picos. The Atlantis EVO is the future. Make NO mistake... this tank exists to circumvent the new European laws. Melo III is finished either way for us Europeans.

I'll add to the crowed that's for the Pico, I sure love mine! I also really like the SXK Mini Zero, but it has some shot comings that I'm willing to live with, only 60w and just two TC modes. But it fits and feels better in my hand.
The Pico is tough, dropped mine more times than I can count! Future proof, upgradable firmware and replaceable battery (I won't buy a mod with an internal battery) and packed with tons of features for around $30. It's hard to beat at its price point.
I've never used the Melo tanks and probably never will with all the issues I've read about them.
The Kanger top tank mini is held in high regard, I have a friend that will only buy them anymore because they work and are versatile. Keep that in mind as you admit you aren't sure what style of vaping you like yet. You may end up like me, I can tootle puff at 11w with a Kayfun lite, or I can hit my Mutank at 80w, depending on my mood/needs.

I am kind of in the same boat, though i am happy with my tanks (2 Kanger TOPBOX's and a few Aspire Nautilus's ) but i am using Aspire CF Mod's to power them and they dont allow any adjustment, they simply depend on the battery.

Im looking at getting at Kanger KBOX Mini Platinum 60w TC as my very first jump into the "box mod" world. Something simple and cheap to begin with, with a little style. Anyone with experience find this a bad route?

Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

For me, I'm still inexperienced with vaping. So I still don't know for sure what equipment I do and don't like. The only real tanks I have (that aren't simple ego tanks that come with starter kits) are the Nautilus Mini and the K3.

It's OK. We're with you all the way. :)
I think the point I was trying to make is that

1. Sometimes kits are great value and 100% sensible.
2. Now and again, a new mod comes out and old vapers just buy the mod as we're getting wise to the "it's a game-changer" attitude to new tanks. That has to be mixed in with the fact that many old hands use rebuildable tanks and don't want to go back to the factory coil business.
3. I like factory coils (for plug and play), but my google fu always hunts out the user experience. That has to be mixed with the fact that many new vapers have problems because they are just searching around in the dark and there is often some user error.
4. It's complicated, in other words.

The only wise advice I can offer is just to buy a few things and expect a few bad buys. The forums are full of people saying "oh no, my tank is leaking, I feel the e-cig world is dealing me a bad hand"... I was one of those people, for sure. On a $15 tank you move on. On a $70 tank, you get mad and never go back to that brand... for a while...

I love my Joyetech mods (now), but never enjoyed much in the tank range.
I also like Eleaf stuff (despite the bad rep with internal battery cheap mods flunking out). I like their cheap tanks but have used and thrown/given away anything we would class as the next step up.
China churns it out. Some reviews are not worth the 8 minutes of youtube time as they are biased ($$) also, often, somebody calls a tank they have had 3 days the new gold standard. 3 months is more like the time you need to spend.

I personally feel that the vast majority of people who like Joyetech/Eleaf/Wismec mods like the Pico are people with very limited experience with high quality mods. Joytech make some of the cheapest mods out there and there is a very good reason why they are so cheap, they're not very good or very reliable. I've tried a few different Joytech products over the years, and three consistent problems I've had with them is that their 510 connectors aren't very durable, they have a weak hit compared to other mods at the same settings, and they rarely last a full year.

They seem to be good as an entry level, somewhat disposable mod. Something a first time user can buy and get into vaping without breaking the bank, and you're not too upset when they stop working 9-10 months later, but after having quite a few better mods I'll never buy another Joyetech/Eleaf/Wismec product.

Spend a few extra dollars and you can get an Innokin Coolfire IV 18650 mod which has a far better chip that's both more accurate in TC mode and provides a more consistent and smoother vape in wattage mode. It's also going to last several years, even if it's the only mod you have. It's amazing how much better of a mod you can get for a mere $10 more than a Pico. Innokin makes some extremely reliable products, my wife still uses her nearly 3 year old SVD 2.0 daily and it still works like it was brand new.

At the $60-$80 range you have some excellent Yihi powered mods like the IPV5. If you're willing to make the jump into the $80-$100 range than you can start looking at DNA75 and DNA133 mods, which put the cheaper mods to shame in both build quality and performance. Way up in the top range you have the SX Mini and some really fancy DNA200 mods. It's sort of like cars, you can't expect to get Mercedes quality and performance at a Kia price. You get what you pay for.

As for tanks, I'm surprised no one has mentioned the Triton yet. While I've never tried using a Nautilus coil in a Triton I do know that you can use Triton coils in a Nautilus which suggests that there's no reason why it wouldn't work the other way. I personally find the Triton coils in the Nautilus to be better than the Nautilus coils, and you have Kanthal, Stainless Steel, Nickel, and Clapton coils to choose from.

The SVD 2.0 is a tank and I love it. I haven't made the decision yet but I'm almost positive I'll be getting the Cool Fire 18650 as well. I may not have been vaping long but I'm having good experiences with Innokin products so far.

Innokin are good. The MVP version 2 (not recommended unless as cheap as a can of beer) was super-good in terms of reliability. The "3" and the "Pro"were less good, sadly.
Just avoid the rather basic and unloved early number Coolfires (1,2 etc) and the supposedly 'collectible' Itaste VTR and 134 mod. All worthless today really.
I saw a vendor selling 134s for $150.... taking advantage of newbies, yet again. It never stops.
