Hi all! I just got my new Kanger Aerotank V3, and I'm having trouble with the airflow ring. It's vERY stiff to turn, and there's what appears to be a set screw on the opposite side from the air holes. The ring is quite different from the Mega that I have. The V2 has a long oblong hole on the outer ring, which you turn in order to expose or hide the tiny holes on the inner ring.
Anyone know what the tiny Phillips head set screw is for/ how it operates? Do I leave it? Loosen it the tighten into position? or take it out completely? I thought I was getting the ring like the Mega, but apparently there are 3 versions of the airflow ring: the original protank style, the Mega style, and this one. Any words of wisdom on the set screw like thing?
thanks!

This confused me at first too. I believe the screw is meant to stay in place, allowing just enough rotation on the ring to open/close the air holes, rather than rotating all the way around. I agree the thing stiff as hell, but once you get it at the flow you like at least it won't move. Personally I like the v2 base (the one with just one hole you can make large or small). I could never get enough flow from the v3, even with all the holes open. You can get just the v2 base for pretty cheap from most places that sell kanger products. Hope this helps...

Thanks, Patrick G! Last night, I removed the set screw and I just sat and fiddled with it, trying to break it in a bit. It does move more easily, and luckily I don't move the airflow around much. I then used the screw exactly as it was probably designed to do- act as a SET screw (duh!).
I'll probably look for a replacement base next time i place an order. And maybe get a version 2 tank....ooooh, and a mod to go with it and....
(Sigh). So much for saving money by quitting the analogs!!:toast:
