Need an Ody sensei quick.

Just got an Ody V1 yesterday morning. The guy I bought it from is local but not reachable right now. He did the setup for me so I could watch and ask questions as he went. ....ing thing vapes like a beast, my best experience so far. Any way to the point. Had to go to a funeral in full Army Class A's and just vaped the .... outta the thing and it never stuttered until the batteries died....and of course not planning ahead I had no back-ups. So I got home late last night and threw some batteries in to vape before I went to bed and everything worked like a charm still chugging out ......ed amounts of vapor.

I woke up and now the damn thing won't fire. I know it's the Ody cause I threw the stealth cap and a carto tank on there and they work fine. when I pulled the Ody off the collector tank there was juice on the center post and a little down in the bottom, sucked that .... outta there and dried off the post but still no joy. I know I'm missing something simple but I just can't figure out what it is.

Also the coil was 2 ohms and I'm running 6 volts with the juice control way open so as not to burn. Worked all day yesterday like that no problems.

I do not have one, but is the center post that touches the battery adjustable? there is also the chance you may have to pull up the battery post on the battery a bit

That was my initial thought so I pulled it down and then screwed it back on and let it push the pin as I screwed the collector tank back on but still no luck.

well then if you can pull up the battery post a little and/or then pop the ody open and see if maybe the coil broke. after that ya got me.

If you have a meter put it on ohms and see if you have resistance in your coil or check for continuity. Sounds like you blew a coil. 6V on a 2ohm coil is a lot no matter how much juice you throw at it.

I just pulled it all apart and decided to give a shot at rebuilding it...got it rebuilt but still can't get it to fire....metered it at 1.8...I think there is a break in the circuit but can't figure out where it is. Threw a 3.7v trustfire in case it was too high a voltage.

and your sure the pv works? then that sucks I think i would talk to the seller bout that.

I don't think it's the unit, this is my very first time rebuilding anything so I'm almost positive the issue is that my inner ...... won't take a break. Just put my multimeter on it and it is saying 1.3 ohm.... I got to put this off til tomorrow, I've been sitting in this chair all day and my back is killing me. Happy pills and then I will re-engage in the AM. Thanks for the help guys.

Have you tried setting the voltage down to 4 and seeing if it works? I mean 1.8 ohms with it set at 6volts might just be too much and your MOD is just trying to save itself. I dont have tons of RA experience but just know that running such low resistance on such a high voltage is asking for troubles. Here is a great little guide to ohms and voltages, its real simple, I even got it. Ohm's and Joule's Law Calculator

and here is another guide from an experienced person :

1.7 ohms +2 = 3.7v
3.0 ohm +2 = 5.0v
1.5 dual coil (1.5x2 = 3.0) +2 = 5.0v

Sounds like a GGTS. Are you using it screwed directly on the GGTS or is it a 510 base? I own a drip mode Ody and a Penelope and with my Penelope it has stopped firing and I needed to take a screwdriver to the center post (in the 510 connection) and screw it down. It comes loose and the center post doesn't reach down far enough to connect to the PV. I may be way off base here and I don't even own a GGTS so i'm likely completely wrong, but if it is a 510 base you're using try that. The housing may have just come loose. It only takes a mm or less not to be sticking out.

one more thing to check, if you havent had resolved the problem. Once in a while when making a new coil/wick I will place it on the multimeter and it will not respond or get a real high ohm reading past 8.0. Sometime the multimeter will read a good ohm number but when I place it on the PV nothing. What I find is that sometimes the tail end of your positive wire is still sticking out from the screw to mess with it. I always use the twisitng method to twist the excess off, and sometimes I use scissors or a nail cutter and I assume its flush but its not. This is when I get no response from my PV. Make sure that the negative is evenly wound around the center post, not unbalanced, like it being wrapped around one side more than the other causing the nut to be off not making an even contact. Second sometimes positive wire can affect it, such as uneven wraps between the base and the little nut or too loose and not contacting the groove and the ring. I hope this helps.

It's usually the top, positive connection. Either make sure the top nut or screw is snug, or use your finger, and just move the top of the wick slightly away from the center post. Sometimes, depending on the juice you're vaping, a little wad of crud will seep in under the top nut, and insulate the connection. Just bumping it a little will work to re establish the connection.

okay, not a screw, a "nut" at the end of the atomizer post and another "nut" around the atomizer holding the wick and keeping them down in the channels/ groove

Try closing the juice control all the way and see if it works. If so, the locking nut on the negative leg is coming loose when you unscrew the juice control.
