Hello all, hoping some of you veterans can help me out. I went into my bosses office this morning and told him I hadn't had a cigarette in 6 days now. Showed him my ecig, explained what it was and actually blew vaper in his face. The first thing he asked was if my doctor had prescribed it for me. I had to tell him no otherwise he would have asked for a doctors note. (LOL - I know my .... boss!) So he said I could vape in the ladies room. Then he thought about it some more and said that since it was liquid nicotine and even though I was emiting water vapor the nicotine still concerned him and was I emitting nicotine in that vapor, too. So now he wants to do some research on it and I have to vape outside along with the smokers. I told him he was now exposing me to second hand smoke. He told me if I could prove to him it was safe ... well maybe. So can anyone give me websites so I can prove to this man that vaping is safe? Anything please? I don't want to vape with the smokers. THEY STINK! Thanks so much for any and all help.

Actually your lungs/mucus membranes will beaborbing almost ALL the nic that you inhale and unlike ciggies a PV wont 'burn on its own' and give off toxic chemicals and unfiltered nic. You have to depress a switch to get the nic. What you exhale is almost all the suspension fluid - which will be PG or VG. neither of which are toxic. Although both can be 'drying' (I doubt they can affect others as drying but I have no evidence of that)
Theres a thread over on the health thread forum which goes into more scientific detail.

The E-cig is no different then the FDA approved Nicotrol where the suspention for the nicotine inhaled is PG. Have him call Pfizer:

QUESTIONS? Call 1-888-642-6876

They will tell "Your Boss" that the NICOTROL Inhaler has no second hand effects. Carrying that over to the e-cig only takes common sense.

Well in defense of the boss he has to look at it from a supervisor's point of view. It sounds like he has no problem with it in general. He has to consider the legal ramifications of another employee or customer complaining about it. I stealth vape at work and don't make it obvious. I don't push it and I don't try to ram it down anyone's throat. A lot of people (even here on ECF) get on a soap box about this and smoking. The important thing to remember is that you have to try and understand the other person's point of views and why they HAVE to make decisions they do sometimes.
You might try the links on here and direct him to the videos, medical opinions, etc. on the internet. As people become more educated I'm sure things will get better for those of us choosing to use this method.

Why did you tell him you intended to vape in the ladies? Just do it; vaping leaves no lingering smoke or after-smell. If the place I contract with ever says I cannot vape I will do it in the bathroom until caught while looking for a new place to run my business.
I second this, as long as the ladies' room isn't too busy. The vapor hangs around for a little bit (30 seconds, or so?), but then it's gone. I have some luck blowing it at the wall at about the level of my waist. Get your quick vape in, hang out for 30 seconds until the vapor dissipates, and the worst that will happen is someone might wonder if you were pooping. Everybody poops.

I disagree with the bolded part. Girls do not do this, at least that's what my GF used to tell me.

It wasn't totally clear to me exactly "what" you were asking your boss? Did you want to be allowed to vape at your desk/workplace, or just asking permission to vape in the ladies room? Just my opinion... (but I'm also now self-employed and work alone) but I would never expect an employer to give me "permission" to vape in an office (or workplace) where there are other non-smoking employees or customers to see it. Not matter how "safe" we think they are.. the non-smokers are most likely going to think otherwise. But, I would not have any problem at all with "sneaking" a vape in while I'm on the potty (behind closed door)... without even asking for permission ;)
