Might be a bit but I am confused...

I have been vaping and off analogs for a while (was a heavy smoker for 30 years)... Have 510 equipment 3 batteries, attys, charger, pcc etc..)

I just tried the low resistance atty and I love them, but my battery life sucks..

From what I gather, EGO battery will give me more of a battery life ? If that is the case, is the EGO battery compatible with all my 510 stuff ?

What is the cone used for on the ego... In other words, what do I need to get bigger batteries that I can use with LR attys ?

Thanks for you help... 510, EGO, 801, 901, cartos, mods, PG, VG.. am I the only one confused?

This habit is getting more and more complex.. But I still love it !

Thanks fellows !

You're not the only one. It can be confusing.

First things first. You shouldn't use LR atomizers on smaller batteries like the standard 510. It can damage them, they don't have enough power.

Second. An eGo is still a 510, just with a bigger, fatter battery. So yes, everything is interchangeable. The cone for the eGo is mainly just to make it look better, because you'll have the big fat battery with the same skinny atomizer sticking out of it. So it evens out the size difference. It does also affect the inhale/pull a little bit, makes it a little smoother.

Yes, the eGo will give you more battery life, and if you want to keep using LR atomizers, you pretty much NEED to upgrade. Your regular 510 battery is not meant for LR stuff. Your atomizers and other 510 stuff will all work.

Yes eGo batteries last longer. Don't use LR510's on a battery lower than 3.7v or you run the risk of destroying your battery. LR's are meant to be used on eGo/Riva batteries to simulate high voltage vaping. They pull more power from your battery and burn hotter than a standard atomizer.

Go here for a 510 eGo just so you know which one you want that will interchange with the equipment that you already have. I've never seen any of them that isn't 510. Riva batteries are a tad larger and come in 510 and I believe 901. These are a little cheaper in price. There really isn't a comparison on performance. They both function the same in my opinion. Battery on an eGo is 650mah and the Riva is 750mah. I get the same life span out of both batteries.

801/901 are different threads than the 510.

Carto's are also cartomizers. These are a cartridge/atomizer combination that hold fluid in them. You can either buy these pre-filled or empty/blank and load them yourself. Basically, emliminates the 2 pieces and combines them into 1.

PG - propylene glycol - gives juice a sweeter taste but less vaper - some people like myself have allergic reactions to a high percentage of PG. I try to stay around 60/40 PG/VG or 50/50 PG/VG but everyone likes their juices different so it's a matter of finding what YOU like.

VG - vegetable glycerin - produces more vapor but can lessen flavors - also makes the juice thicker.

eGo cone also acts like a heat insulator. Helps in not getting excess juice on your hands in the event you over filled your cart. Used to make the eGo look sleek.

mod - modified ecig. eGo is actually considered a mod since it has a larger battery. Others are The Buzz, Icon, Prodigy V3, and any you see on here that looks like a battery box.

One thing I need to point out for you. The Ego Fat batt will not fit your 510 charger as is. You will need adapters for them. I use this charger so I keep 5 adapters screwed into it.

It may be just me, but I have a theory that Ego batts will last longer if you don't use the souped up Ego charger designed for that particular batt and just gently charge them overnight with a regular 510 charger. I have been rotating 5 in this charger for several months now and they are still strong producers. Your guess is as good as mine as to how long they will last doing it this way but I've never gone a third as long on batts with any of the other models I have tried.

PS.....You may be confused now, but I think the bug bit you like the rest of us...:) Hang right here and you will learn like many of did. You learn the lingo, it becomes a hobby where you throw a lot of money into a big hole in the ground then you become an e-cig evangelist....lol

If you're looking for some good information on 510's and eGo's in general, you might want to take a look at our site. It's got some good info for someone like yourself who is trying to piece this crazy e-cig thing together. I had a lot of the same types of questions when I first started. Hopefully it helps!

One shouldn't use LR atomizers on batteries lower than 450 mAh (or so), not lower than 3.7v. We're looking at battery's overall capacity, not voltage. And Otrpu is correct, eGo/Riva/Tornado class batteries are 3.2v (under load) devices, not 3.7v. [3.7 is their nominal voltage, which is pretty much a meaningless number. :)]

Ego's have a protection / regulator circuit in them. A fully charged battery will read 4.2 volts. What the regulator does is it keeps a constant voltage as the battery get used. If the battery is at 4.2 or 3.7 or 3.5 the output voltage going to the Atomizer is 3.2 volts under load. Technically the battery is considered a 3.7 volt battery. If you went and bought one from the battery factory it would have 3.7 in the technical specs they give it a rating of about the voltage it is when half used.

That is an interesting theory. I have had no problems with my USB charger slowly killing my eGo batts. I've been using the same battery for months now. I think the biggest factor that determines the battery life is how well they are cared for(not saying that you are tough on yours). If you drop them a lot then yeah the "brains" in them will go bad before the actual battery itself. There have been many times that I have been thankful for my fast charging USB unit. Nonetheless, an interesting view point.

Hi!

I was in the same boat as you are when I first started vaping! I started on a 510, and I went to the eGo so I wouldn't have to buy all new parts and accessories. All of my 510 stuff fits on my eGos. (I have 3 of them.) My 510 LR attys work perfectly with them as well. I recently started using the LR cartomizers, and they are great!

I know how easy it is to become overloaded on information here!! But the members here are great at giving good advice! :)

I agree, a mod will work wonders. But, if you don't want to get into the whole mod thing, The eGo or RIVA will do exactly what you are looking for. Also, if you have the time to wait for it to charge (say overnight), I would use the standard 510 (150ma USB charger on the eGo). Over time it is always better to charge your batteries slower. A slower charge (less current applied) will reduce the heat generated during charging. This will help extend the overall life of your batteries.
