I broke my + button my my vamo. I took it apart and have been looking for a replacement. All the tactacle switches that I have found are to big. The ones at radio shack are thinner and wider. The ones I found in some laser pointers are too big. It looks like most electronics use a 6x6 switch I'm guessing. I tinker a bit not really versed in electronics. Does anyone know what size tactacle switch the vamo uses and where I can find a replacement.

Sorry if this isn't posted in the right area. I read more on here than actually post. Thanks.

How on earth did you break it? I can't help you directly as I have no electrical knowledge at all except for replacing plugs and fuses.

Perhaps searching for MicroMiniature SMD/ SMT Tact Switches will help you better, I don't know the exact dimensions of the switch but I looked up 4x4 and 3x3 and found quite a few, google images helps too especially when looking for something that's too difficult to find easily in word searches. I am confident it's available from specialist online component suppliers though.

Other than that maybe a new circuit board is in order or contact RainbowHeavenTech (original mfr's) and ask if they can help.

Those switches are commonly used in modern electronics. The small ones are similar to those used on car stereos and home stereos to select features. They aren't particularly robust, but they are meant to accept light touches and should have built in overtravel prevention that's determined by the mounting scheme. IOW, the button shouldn't allow travel far enough to depress to the point where physical damage can occur to the switch membrane.

Lead spacing and switch package dimensions and height are the factors you have to be concerned with. Web sites generally give you access to the spec sheets where those dimensions are published. Those switches can be surface mount or lead through in design.

Have you talked to the vendor? Maybe someone is doing repairs. If yours failed, it may be fairly common. Then again, it might not be the switch unless you feel a difference between the plus and minus switches. It could be a board component issue.
