I'm new to vaping, and I have an iStick 20w from eleaf, I just got it today and it's making me frustrated. I have a protank 2 with a 2.5ohm coil. I have read on other websites that I can vape between 3.8 to 4.1 volts or 10.0 to 11.0 watts BUT, whenever I change the wattage or voltage to that amount, the vapor that gets produced is really hot and tastes burnt. I can only vape on 3.7 watts and a deep throat hit feels weird, not at all like a nicotine hit, I don't know how to explain it easier, it feels like it's burnt, but it doesn't taste burnt. I can go up to 4.4 watts for a few drags but then it tastes burnt and I have to lower it back down. I wanted to produce more vapor with this, but I can only produce as much vapor as my old X6 VW battery could. If anyone could help me , that'd be great!
btw- I have cleaned everything but nothing changed and I can not vape at a higher wattage/voltage.
I have brand new coils as well.

I've read on ECF that the istick 20 runs hotter than the settings indicate. That's probably at least partly why you're getting burned hits. Try to turn the wattage down. You cannot blow huge clouds with that setup (which is sort of similar to mine), even though you don't mention trying to do that (but I thought I'd just throw it out there), because you sort of have to sub ohm in order to do that which requires all different equipment. Good luck with straightening out the burned taste issues.

I did what you said and im going to let it sit for a little bit, but do you know why I'm not able to vape above 4.4w?

4.4 "volts"?

as posted, the istick 20 is known for firing "hotter" then what the screen indicates.

just because your box "can go up to 20w" - doenst mean you HAVE to.

I'd suggest starting at the bottom. Take a few drags. Begin going up slowly a few clicks at a time, taking a few drags at each stop. When it tastes bad, you have gone to far. Go back down to previous setting.

A number is just a number. My iStick 20 runs very hot. What I can vape at 11W on my zmax mini, I can only vape at maybe 8-9 with the 20.

Go with what feels and tastes good! (and order some lower ohm coils next time around;))

Good luck and welcome!

I was going to get 1.8ohm coils next time, I'll do what you said and see what I can get!

to be honest, i notice you use your protank in "stock" configuration - no drilled air, stock coils ect.

if you want/feel up to it - i would sudjest drilling out the airflow on the protank base slightly - it will help increase the airflow over the coil and help keep it from scorching the juice. - but it will not improve the wicking ability of the tank, you still cant chain vape on it.

another "if you feel up to it", id like to also sudjest trying to rewick an old coil head with cotton - it will help alot with the wicking.

from the current equipment i have, i can run an evod with drilled air and a cotton wick, 1.8 ohms, at 3.7v on the istick20 fine - semi hot, but not dry or burnt.

ETA: i can run my evod tank only up to 3.7V on the istick 20 before it starts burning, when i swap it to the istick 30 battery i can crank it to 4.2v before it starts tasting burnt - big difference in power regulation.
