Yes, the EVO is limited in comparison when it comes to voltage change. Since the OP is new, my thought was it would be a little simpler initiation to variable/selectable vaping. And the limitations I am referring to is what resistence carto/atty you can use on the lavatube. If the LT's that are now being sold can actually use any carto/atty on the market and it keeps it's power setting constant, then that is a different story. I've just read many posts with complaints on those two issues. If those are solved, then I see it as an inexpensive initiation to variable vaping.

O.k. then. The complaints about the LT are nearly all referring to the version 1. The newer version 1.5 has a 3.2amp limit, so it can use any carto. It's a little bit below the Provari's 3.5amp limit. The even newer version 2, on sale already, has a 4amp limit, so you can use a 1.5ohm carto at 6 volts if you're dumb enough. The electronics on both versions are totally revised and, supposedly, hold their voltage, although I've only seen limited testing. There have also been some structural changes on ver. 2, with metal endcaps and the capability to accept protected batteries. At $70-75 for the full kit, they're definitely a good alternative and seem to be a good value. I've seen the 4 amp version for $50 for the tube only.

I have been vaping for just over 3 months. I tried 3 other mods before I got my Provari and just sold them and bought a 2nd Provari for back up.I don't know if the Lava tube is as good as the Provari because I have never even held one. Maybe it is tho. If the price of the Provari is too steep for you the Lava Tube would be my next choice just because I know that I really like VV. Some people think we shouldn't be recommending the Provari to new vapers but I wish someone had told me to buy one in the beginning of my vaping journey. It would have saved me a ton of money. The reason I will recommend it is because it has met all of my needs. When I hold it in my hand it feels solid. I have dropped it to many times to count and never had it fail me so far. It's not the only way to get a great vape I would guess but I really do love mine. I have never seen a post saying someone was sorry they bought or paid the price for the Provari.

I believe it is Joye who makes the Lavatube. It does tee me off a little that they built "planned obsolescence" into their product. We aren't talking rocket science here. They more than had the capability to provide the "version 2" from the very beginning and probably at or near the very same price point. That strategy might keep me from recommending them if there are viable alternatives.
