I'm seriously looking for a box mod for my fiancee now. She uses a smok NBC, and while it works okay with her eGo batteries, I found that it seems to be wearing out the 510 threads, so I figure it may be best to just set her up with a box. I'm looking for a box that takes batteries (not one with a built-in battery). It can be very low power, in fact I was considering the eleaf istick 10 until I realized it didn't take batteries. I want to use variable wattage mode, and it has to be able to be turned down pretty far (thinking 5w).

Here's a pic of my latest new toy compared to an Istick mini 10w. Much better device than the mini 10w. Only goes down to 7w tho. Out of production, took me months to find a source.

Got mine here but only available in blue.

KSD Vamo Box Mod 25W

Also available here in more colors without the big red fire button (original version). I have not yet ordered from this site but plan to get another one from them. Very likely would take 4-6 weeks for shipping from China tho.

It doesn't have to be a really small low wattage mod, I just brought up the iStick 10w to illustrate that I don't need high power. My Kbox 40 would work for her if it went lower than 8w.

I wonder why a lot of mods don't go below 7w... that seems to be a common lowest setting on a lot of things I've seen.

I think I might have answered my own question there. 3.3v (standard eGo battery voltage) @ 1.5 ohms is 7.26w... even at 1.8 ohm it only drops to 6w. The Smok NBC worked great for me on my Kbox 40 at 8w for the brief period I used it... looks like that 5w requirement just went out the window, seems that common 7w starting point is just fine after all.

Well here's a new one that all the ladies seem to be raving about. And it does go from 1w-75w. Does TC if your lady ever decided to have an interest but don't need to use that mode if not interested. I've seen them as low as $20. Check vapecrawler . com for price comparisons on whatever you choose to buy.

Hm, actually I'd probably be more interested in a really basic one that has the least amount of options as possible. She's a bad sleepwalker and I've seen her do any number of silly things... I'd hate for her to accidentally throw that thing into bypass mode (effectively making it a mech mod right?) and have something really bad happen.

I'd prefer ordering from fasttech, as I plan on getting some batteries from them sometime soon too... those samsung 25Rs I've heard so much about...

You can also buy whats called a 510 to EGO adapter which you can leave on your current mod to extend the life of the thread. Its makes it 5mm or so longer but better then just throwing it away.

I used one for this reason on a vamo v5 which was used daily for a year and had at least 2 tank changes per day.

Also look at the samsung 30Q's, fasttech code is SUMMER for 10% off

Be prepared to add another 4 weeks on top of the usual 6 weeks shipping wait time when you add batteries with your order
If she is able to push one or two of the exact buttons needed while clicking another to go through the menu and stop pushing at the exact moment it reaches bypass while sleeping (some people have a hard time doing this while awake), maybe hide the device while she sleeps ?
With ego's your giving up dual circuit protection as well as reverse polarity protection, low cell cutoff technology for her safety.

Thanks for the replies so far. I've actually decided on getting her a box just like mine (except different color). I found out that she's vaping at 8 watts anyways with her eGos so the low 8w setting on the Kbox 40 should be just fine. I also ordered those Samsung 25Rs people have been telling me to get. I was also recommended to look at the 30Qs, which I did, but I saw they didn't have a protection circuit and opted for the 25Rs at that time.

Looking forward to the longer battery life of the 25Rs for her. She has to swap those eGo batteries a lot. Hopefully they last a full 12 hours (they should at 8w I imagine). I think I'll pick up some 1.5 ohm coils for her next time instead of the 1.7s or 1.8s to make it last just a little bit longer. It's time for new batteries anyway, I think my crappy Ultrafires are starting to bite the dust. They're not charging completely.

Those 25R's should last a good while at 8 watts. Those are the only battery i use,and i get a full day using them at 40-45 watts,or 2 days in my dual battery mods.On a side note, you can find those batteries here in the U.S. for almost the same price as Fasttech, and get them in a few days.I pay $19.90 for 4 of them with free shipping, and have them in 3 days.
