Now is the time and I'm serious about it this time. I need to quit smoking analogs. For the past several hours I've been going through threads on the ECF forum and trying to figure out what will work best for me. Honestly I'm a little overwhelmed it seems like there are so many choices out there. I could use a little help.

I'm a pack a day smoker. Over the last year I've stepped down from Marlboro Reds (Full flavor) to Marlboro Lights. Even though I've stepped down the brand I'm still smoking a pack a day. I would like something that is as close as possible to smoking a Light. I've tried the disposable Ecigs from places like Walgreen's and while it was alright for a couple of days I found that it wasn't eliminating my smoking of analogs but I did step down to about a half a pack a day during that time.

This time I want to quit analogs for good. What I'm looking for in an ecig is something that is the same size and shape as an analog. I don't think I would dig trying to smoke something the size of a sharpie. Right now I'm looking at a V2. However, after reading on this forum for several hours I realize that I may overpay and have to wait on backorders if I go with V2. Having to buy cartridges all the time doesn't sound great but I can't find a refillable one with the size dimensions I want. From what I understand I could buy blank carts from places like v4l and fill them up myself, right?

I read the FAQ on 808's or 510's I'm guessing that the 808 is more popular but I might want to go with the 510 just so I can use parts if I decided to upgrade to vaping a sharpie down the road. This is a great forum but information overload for a new user. I could really use some help and recommendations. I hate being "That Guy" on forums that asks questions before reading anything. So I did read and digest as much as I could before posting.
Thanks for any help!

Blu was the only analog sized pv I had, and I wouldn't recommend it. Seems like I have heard good things about the Volt. I'll leave your questions for those that know more about what you are looking for.
I just wanted to say Welcome to ECF!
We all went through information overload...it gets easier. Hang in there and keep asking questions!:)

I originally looked at the joye 510 and 510-t models thinking I wanted a cigarette-like vaporizer. What changed my mind was the battery life. A nice, simple starter has been the ego-t personally. I have a friend with the ego-c as well. It's not much bigger than a cig-ish kit, and the return on battery life is nice. Plus, part of me wondered if people would actually confuse it with a cig and get in my face about it! If you have a shop nearby it would be helpful to go down and actually try them. Vape it, get a feel of it in your hands. If not, then I recommend the ego to start with!

What Della said! Ask those questions :) I'm a newb too, I just post a lot haha. I use the search feature sometimes and find that my search phrase is lost in a sea of a 8378346784 page thread. I just ask in a new one or a related thread. My experience is everyone here has been incredibly helpful. Ask on!

I have read good things about the V2, but I do not have an experience with them. To make the transition you have to be diligent and committed to quitting analogs, not that it's difficult, but speaking for myself it takes adjusting (physically an mentally). I kept a pack handy for the first week and smoked maybe a cig a day when I had to, but that 4th day cig was nasty I couldn't finish it I took 3-4 drags and tossed it. This link will show you what I have started with and why as well as others journey's in starting to vape. Hope it helps. ECF community, what set-up helped you quit and why did you find it so effective.

Hi and welcome to ECF. As one highly respected vet here has told us "the closer it looks to a real analog the less performance it will give". 100 mah= 1 hour normal vaping before recharge. My suggestion would be to look at a 3.7 volt PV as there are far more options regarding using certain cartomizers. Regarding 808 or 510 you can always buy aftermarket adapters. I would recommend a manual battery because:
-less prone to damage from juice
-auto batteries may go off accidentally due to loud noises
- most importantly manual batteries put control of the vaping experience in your hands; if you want/ need a stronger hit you just hold the button down longer
My choices would be:
Kgo
EPower
Riva
As for quitting analogs completely don't worry about it. Many here have begun vaping while cutting down on their analogs and one day wake up and discover they enjoy vaping more than smoking. The pros AND cons of vaping is it's a very personal program- amount of nicotine, PV type, flavors, is all dependent on the individual.
Good Luck.

So right now I'm watching some videos on the Ego-C. I still think it is a bit too big for my liking. I guess I'm going to have to do some more research.

If it helps I work from home so I'm not super concerned about battery life as most of my time outside of the house and away from a charger would be a few hours at a time max.

Hey Off Topic thanks for the links but what would I put those on? Would those go to a 510 system I'm thinking about buying?

Initially I felt the same way about size, while not the most efficient on battery duration after a charge, they were the most comfortable for me. You want to be sure that whatever you get you find something that has at least 2 batteries and a few cartos, or atties as well as a full charger (including wall wart) **Also wanted to add that you may want to look into a pass-thru if you work from home, not recommended for using with a lap top, but worth looking into so that you can use your batteries for out-n-about!)

Quick link to forum suppliers; Forum Suppliers List

There are several the size you indicated you're looking for, some have different connections (510, 4081, etc.)you might try checking out some of the following, no particular order, some have subforums in the forum, hth! ;)

Joye 510
Volt
V4L
Smoov
Bloog
Smokestik

Hey! Also check out the Volt by Smokeless Image or the new Volt X2 if you want a larger battery. Here is a link to their forum on here Smokeless Image. Although I am now into mods, I personally have the Volt, used it and loved it. It is most definitely one of the best "cig sized" E-cigs out there. Pair that with their excellent customer service, and you may have a winner! Good luck to ya!

After much consideration and review watching I decided to go with the Volt from Smokeless Image. It seems like a solid investment at just over 40 bucks. Hopefully it will pay for itself soon enough with my savings from buying packs. The kit I got came with 5 cartridges. I'm going to go on V4L now and see about ordering some blanks and different juices.

Hi everyone,

What a fantastic site this is!! I was so very close to buying one more commercial kit, but then found this site.

One thing I didnt quickly find on this site is a discussion about all the other sites and commercially advertised e-cigs out there.
My wife bought me a two pack of e cigs at a mall when they just came out in the US, probably 6 years ago? My memory is not so great, so that might be off.
Anyhow, quality was low, didn't last, back to the analogs.

I recently purchased a Blu starter kit, and was immediately very happy, now somewhat unsatisfied. Problems with quality, delayed warranty RMA. I have not smoked an analog since the first week of January, so I am now committed to vaping.
When I initially was looking around, I found a few comparison/review type sites, which listed a lot of cigarette sized solutions like Blu, V2, Green Smoke, South Beach, White Cloud, Pro Smoke, Premium, etc..

I get the impression that this site is more for the vaping pros.

I do still feel like I want a cigarrette sized unit, but also feel that I am ready to move on to longer battery life and filling my own carts (saving money?).

Still looking for advice (even after reading "wonderful world" parts 1-6, and the thread about "just get an ego").
Also wondering if there should be a sticky post about all the other "review" sites out there:

Electronic Cigarette Review: Compare Brands & Read Reviews!
Electronic Cigarette Reviews & Coupons - E Cig Reviews & Discounts
Electronic Cigarettes Reviews | Best E-Cigs & E Cigarettes Brands
E Cigarette Reviews | Best Electronic Cigarette Review 2012
http://www.electroniccigaretterating.com/
Electronic Cigarette Reviews | Electronic Cigarette Review
E-Cigarette Ratings
E Cigarette Reviews
Electronic Cigarette Reviews - Electronic Cigarette Review
Electronic Cigarette Reviews - Best E-Cigs & E-Cigarettes Ratings

I know some sites exist where the #1 rated happens to be the company hosting the review site, but there may be others out there that don't.

Anyhow, looking for advice / feedback, etc. from the pros.

Also somewhat new to forums, so hopefully this reply will be found and read!

Hi Ribs and welcome to ECF. Sadly the sites you list merely sell clones of genuine products at an inflated price. They usually attract new vapers because their marketing is very aggressive. Why buy a clone for $100 when you can buy the genuine product at less than 1/2 the price? Example: the couple that introduced me to vaping spent $200 for 2 X 350 mah starter kits. I gave them 2 X 1100 mah starter kits as a gift and only spent $80.00. They though it was normal to be recharging their batts every 3? hrs. They now go a full day on one charge.

I've recently (2 months) quit analogs. I too thought about several of the analog imposters. I first tried the Blu disposables, but found that they didn't last nearly long enough. I was going through one in less than a day, and at $10 each, they were more expensive than analogs. This didn't discourage me though. Next I went online and started looking at Blu but went with a V2 starter kit with an auto battery. This seemed like the greatest thing except I was having to recharge the battery quite often. So then I got another KR808 auto battery from Vapor Kings. This one lasted a little longer and allowed me to vape all day by charging one and vaping on another. Once I started refilling my cartos I started to have some issue with getting liquid on my battery connector, so I opted for a sealed auto batt from Smokeless Image. Also I like that they have regulated batteries. The smaller batteries just weren't cutting it anymore, so I went with a manual SI X2 650mah battery since I have a crap load of 808 cartos. This has now been my PV of choice for now. Also I recently picked up a eGo-W setup that I'm kind of on the fence about.

Anyhow, for a analog imposter, I would choose a Volt kit from Smokeless Image. It's a KR808D-1 style kit. It is very easy to use. They seem to have the best KR808 batteries from what I've experienced and have read. The downsize is that there aren't as many add-on or mod parts available for this platform.

The eGo series is also a good way to go. Don't let the larger size discourage you. It really isn't that big. The one I have is slightly larger round than a sharpie and about as long as one. For someone starting out, I wouldn't go with a eGo-W style clearomizer, but maybe a eGo-T style tank or 510 cartos.

Ultimately the choice is a personal thing and you may have to try several types before you settle on what's best for you.

Thanks for the very informative post Phrye. After reading that I feel even better about my decision to go with the Volt. I won't really mind trying different PV's until I find the right one for me. My main objective here is preserving my health not necessarily my wallet. ;)

I just got my Ego - C today from Americaneliquidstore.com in the mail, and it's not too big. About the size of a sharpie at the base where the battery is. Definitely worth it, it produces plenty of vapor with a vg ejuice. My coworker tried mine and was like he is ordering one tonight, and he has been vaping for over a year and swears he by his box he uses.
