Couple of things:

What battery are you using? Is it fully charged (verified with a multimeter at or near 4.2v)?

.43 ohm is a pretty high resistance for 24ga kanthal dual coils. If your ohm reading is correct, then you must have used quite a bit of wire in this build. More wire = longer heat-up time with a mech mod. 26 or 28ga kanthal would probably suit you better with this build.

Yeah, you need to ditch 24ga. To get it to heat up fast enough, you need to build pretty low, lower than a dual 0.43 ohm coil, which is already pretty low (I had a dual 24ga at 0.375 ohms that took too long to heat). I wouldn't advise this, or even condone it until you're much more comfortable with your first mech. Even 26 would suit you fine at the same resistance.

Edit: Also, make sure to answer BGC's question about the battery you're using :)

idk what bat it is it came in a kit on ebay its a blue bat that just has 18650 and 30 amp on it

Uh oh. You need to know your batteries well before venturing into mech mod territory. I'm unaware of any 30 amp blue batteries on the market...can you post a pic? This is just screaming "danger, danger"!!! If someone can post the links for Baditude's blogs I'd appreciate it :)

that would be 30 amp pulse rating i gaurentee it. its probably a 20 amp continuous. i hate the new trend of no name batteries posting only their pulse rating on the batt.

iirc panasonics are blue but if it was included with a mod for 40 bucks its probably a no name brand

i know the battery safety i have been looking into a mech and reading and watching vids on it for about 3 months before i even got this im going to be buying a vtc4 in the next 2 days or so when i go to the vape shop

make sure they are real. there are a ton of fake vtc4s out there and all the ones ive seen at vape shops have been fake

Awesome! A VTC4 is perfect. Also, efest purple 2100mah is the same battery (re-wrapped VTC4). And the Orbtronic sx30 is also a great 30 amp CDR battery. I'd suggest staying away from that random battery, or any batteries acquired from eBay period.

Eh, well, you can never be too safe! IMR or ICR

If it's a blue battery, I want it to be a Samsung 25R, but it certainly doesn't have to be either. I just can't think of any 30A batteries that are blue, and generally anyone re-wrapping batteries does so to rebrand it (and would have a well-known blue wrapper). You're on shaky ground with an unknown battery, I'll just leave it at that.

But, you know the answer to your coil conundrum.

Here's a link to (something very similar to) your coil's stats: Current Build

See that value for Heat Capacity? 80 mJ/K is enormous; my coil with "only" 55 mJ/K could barely be powered by 50 watts, let alone 35watts. My current build is is pretty high at 30 mJ/K, and is very responsive.

Here's a much better build, same resistance: More Efficient Build

Using 26ga, your Heat Capacity is only half that, easily done with 35W.

You're probably not using a 1.3mm inner diameter, but that doesn't affect coil lag too much.

ETA: You simply should not used that Ultrafire in a mech. Seriously. I know it sucks, but consider it a lesson learned. Unfortunately coil lag just became the least of your worries.

I think you want to stay away from ultra fires for vaping, I use them but for something else

and yeah can you show us a pic of your coils? I use 26 kanthal 6 wraps and get .2ohms and efest 2500 mah 35 amp (yes i know) and will be using sony vtc4 2100 mah 30 amp soon, just ordered 6 of them :D and no theyre not fake, bought from a reputable seller

anyways, please post a pic of your coils and if you cant, how many wraps? are the wires VERY close together? what you can do or do going forward, have just the coils on, no cotton, and fire it up, see how long it takes to get red/orange, don't keep it on too long though, this will help confirm why it takes so long, it should light up from the inside to the outside wires if done correctly
