So. I've recently bought an Isub apex tank with a cool fire IV plus. I love both the mod and tank.. However I've been using each coil I have for a around 3 days then starts to develop some weird taste and nothing like the liquid I put in. Not burnt just a kind of wood like taste I guess is the best way to describe it? I've been using the mod on around 30. And thought it might be too much so now I've been using it on around 25watts. The coils I've been using have been 0.2ohm and says on package can handle up to 20-50 watts. I'm an experienced vapor but this is really confusing me.. I've been doing everything right.. priming the coils waiting 30min before use etc. The liquid is also fine as I'm using some real good thick liquid was was actually made for mods like mine. So I'm real confused. I've tried everything so please help. I don't want to have to put new coils in every week :(

I have an Innokin Apex too and I have hardly used it for the same reason. I noticed it with the coils that came with it. So I ordered some from my regular supplier and was getting the same thing, I'm beginning to think it's the cotton they use. I ran through the whole package of coils and got that same crappy taste after a day or two. Seems to be kind of a wet sweater kind of a taste

I just went back to my 2 Maganus tanks. I dearly loved them but sadly I cleaned them both at the same time and apparently there is a very small difference in the threads on them and when I put them back together is screwed up the threads enough that now both leak. So now I'm attempting to find another tank I like as much. The Maganus has been discontinued and I can replace it but it seems the coils are getting very expensive. A friend of mine is sendin me Cubis Pro to try out. I've got a few others just none of them have the flavor I want. My wife loves her Subtank nano, but it's just too damn small for me. I'd be filling it every hour. I vape a lot.

I actually prefer the .5 ohm clapton coils on my Apex. I was vaping at 55 watts with 80vg. Never had a problem and my coils lasts for 2-3 weeks vaping exclusively on just the CF4+ and apex. I even chainvaped on it. I didn't like the .2 ohm specifically for the fact that they didn't seem to last that long. Maybe, though, you could use a thinner juice?

I just recently purchased an Apex. I had trouble with all the coils that came with it. I am a MTL vapor so I vape at lower wattages and higher ohms than it seems anyone here does. So I didn't try to replace the lower ohm coils but did send off for 2.0s. The 2.0 coil supplied with the tank never tasted bad but I was unable to draw through it. Received them and they seem to be doing fine. Good flavor but do seem to go through juice rather quickly. Haven't had that much experience with them yet so I can't speak to their longevity. It is a very nice tank so I hope this gets corrected.
I have had an even worse experience with the Vaporesso Guardian Tank's coils. But that is not relevant to this thread.

I like the .5Ω coils much better than the .2s . And what I really like most about the Isub coil is the wick change is a piece of cake. Take a pin and pop out the screen off and throw it away. Screw the coil head onto any mod as is and dry burn to clean. Put in new wick (tight), trim...wet....poke wicks into holes making sure no overhang with the cotton...and you're good to go. A 5 pack of these coils will last you a long time. The .2Ω wire is thinner, more flimsy. When you attempt a wick change the coil gets deformed no matter how gentle you are with it, but not with the .5 wire. You can ease that factory cotton out of there and get new cotton in there easily. You can gently move the wire to center if it pulled to one side slightly when removing cotton. I like the Apex tank and the "S" tank. I am using the "S" tank now because I like the 23mm width and a seamless fit on my 23mm Caravela Mec. If you're getting a funky taste with a factory coil you're probably running it too hot. If you're getting a funky taste on a rewicked coil, you probably don't have enough cotton; get the cotton in there tight and leave a little excess when you trim that you can push into each side of the coil.
