Hi Everyone
I'm new to this forum and fairly new to vaping and could use some help. Tried to post this in the MVS forum, but I'm not allowed to yet
So I ordered a battery and I thought it was super airy - couldn't get a hit unless I wrapped my fingers around the connection. Customer service was great - said that the new batteries had slits added for better air flow but the manufacturer may have made them too large....would I like one without slits? And although I asked if anything was wrong with those they said no so I had the 'airy' battery replaced. I got the new battery with no slits and I have to drag SUPER hard to get a hit as well as to get the LED to light up. It will light up at first (sometimes) and then go off in the middle of the drag...sometime flicker a bit. The hole in the center post is really, really tiny - never seen anything so small. Customer Service said to try to blow into the hole and that in some cases where liquid is trapped inside, blowing into the battery may loosen the vacuum switch. Did nothing - actually it did do something - it light up the LED and made a sound like it was being vaped. Thought that seemed odd. Also - seems to work when I put a new carto on better than if one has been one the whole time.

Anyone ever hear of this vacuum switch or have a problem like this - especially with these batteries?

Could use some ideas as I'd rather not get a third battery.

Thanks !

Sorry you didn't get feedback. When I used stick batts, I had some that were too "airy" (I used a V2 kit, still KR808D-1). I was able to use the tape method to block all but 1 air whole and the draw was good. Another method I saw on a tip somewhere was to cut the bottom off one of the carto condoms and use it as a cover for where the batt meets the carto (with one little hole cut in it to still allow some air the get in). Not sure what you can do if the new batt they sent you doesn't have any air holes.

tape method: wrap a piece of cellophane tape around where the batt meets the carto and then use a toothpick to pop one of the air holes.

Not sure about the slits but the KR808 batteries that I have bought in the past have 3 air holes and are way to airy a drag for my taste. I usually plug 2 of the 3 holes on all the 808 batteries I buy. I bought some kind of putty stuff that turns hard when it dries and it has worked like a charm for me. Never seen one without any holes at all, but it makes sense that those would not have any draw to them. I also always order the manual batteries, they seem to last longer and have seemed to work the the best in my opinion. Good luck and I would probably send the one without holes and get one with the holes and just plug 1 or 2 of them until you get the desired drag that fits you.

Agree about the manual batts. I had a couple of each and liked the ability to warm the juice for a second or two before hitting (don't need a primer puff). My wife still uses the autos, just easier for her.

Surprised you didn't get a 100 responses to buy a variable voltage mod with a dual coil carto tank to solve the problem... (all kidding aside, any of the big batt 510's can use a really cheap adapter to use all your 808 cartos)

Thanks Cloud Wizard - the cut off condom was exactly what I did. And now in hindsight, I think I should have kept that batt. At least I could use it in some form. This new one...? NOTHING!

Funny stuff.

But since I'm new to this I'm really unsure of what I'm doing. Will be heading to FLA for Easter and there's a vape shop there I plan to visit. Maybe I'll walk away with something satisfying and fun

Canchaser - too late ...already sent back the original 'airy' batt. I am getting a manual as a replacement - hope that does the trick. The one I have now is just a mystery to me. I am thinking air holes though and when I don't tighten the carto all the way it seems to help...on occasion. And only momentarily. I think it's a dud.

I'm surprised no one mentioned adjusting the center post on the cartomizer.

If your cartomizer's center post on the connection end has a slight dipper spot across the center of it, (should look kind of like a flat head screw). Get a flat head screw and very gently turn it counter clockwise for a tighter draw, clockwise for a lighter draw.

I found when I used a kr808 frequently, every so often a cartomizer would have an undesirable draw.

For the battery issues, Take off the LED cover on the end, blow down hard quick bursts onto the LED about an inch to a half an inch away 4-5 times and then sit it on the charger overnight. This should reset most gen 1 batteries, not sure if it works with gen 2. It worked on my v2 auto really well.

Just a thought. Those were thing I did to help that problem.

Thanks for the info trepalium. I did adjust the center post of the battery - not the cartomizer. Had no idea you could even take off the LED tip. That trick resets a battery? I'll put it on the charger again, but I have my doubts about this thing...

The best gen 1 batt I ever used was a Vapor King battery from Vapor 4 Life. They're a little on the expensive side but well worth it.

Thanks! They are a little expensive, but not as bad as the V2 (my original purchase). It is worth it, because this is too much trouble. And Vapor King batts are all 808s, correct?
