I have been asked to chair the table decorations committe for this years charity dance (In Nov.) One of the idea's floated around was fashions of the 60's.
If we do that I have to come up with centerpieces. Hat's? Hat heads with glasses and headbands? maybe wire or paper mache manaquins? Paper dolls? help I need to lay out several ideas by St. Valentines day (our next meeting)

The other idea was TV shows of the 60's. That's an easy one, small cardbrd boxes painted black with B&W TV show pictures on the front sides and rabbit ears! For snacks, TV dinner tins filled with vintage candy .
The TV antena's could be shaped to match the show..a heart for "The Lucy Show", a spiraled wired connecting the two anttena's for Lost in space..like robbie the robot. Maybe a brand or lasso for wagon train. Star Trek is the best!

One hit wonders would also be fairly easy..records on a plate stand with the name of the artist and song.

Ideas are welcome.

It sounds like you already have some really cute ideas in mind MK! :D Wish I had some ideas for you... but I'm lacking in the "imagination" dept. LOL!

Ditto here! The only thing worse than my imagination is.............um........well......

Sorry! I wish I could help! Maybe I'll get struck by lightning and think of something. There's still time! I'll bet there are a lot of people that have wonderful imaginations that will give you great ideas...but in the mean-time I'll get a brain aneurysm trying to figure something out!;)

No, the dance isn't until Nov.
We decided on the T.V. shows of the 60's. I have to mock up a T.V. by then. I am usually in charge of centerpieces (at least 40 of them) But last year I had just buried my Mom. They were doing a beach theme and the girls all got together and painted small birdhouses in the shape of beach houses. My first year I did coke glasses with fake ice cubes and brown confetti in them with a red straw and a white cartnation on top to look like a rootbeer float. The next year it was a movie theme so I did styrofoam rounds painted to look like movie reels with fake film pinned on. It was topped by a movie clapboard.

I am going with the T.V. theme. I will post pics when I make one! Gotta find some jiffy pop to put on the table too!

I need square boxes..I will try to find a box company that has them in a something like a 4x4 or 5x5 size. They have to be kind of small so people can see each other across a table.
It's the whole 60's. We started Jr.High in 1963 and grauated in 1969. Jr. High school is when all these friendships were formed. Some of us knew each other in elementary and some lived close to each other. We all went to 4 different high schools because our high school closed after my 10th grade year. It's amazing to see people that went to our Jr. High when it first opened (they are in their late 80's now ) much younger people from when it closed attend our picnics and dances. Last year we had 450 people at the dance!
I am pleased to say I have had the same friends for over 50 years! Of course I lost touch with some and made lots of new friends..but now they are all back in my life.

oooooh! Jiffy Pop would be great! those boxes look great Katattack!
You're very talented MK! and I'm jealous of your lasting friendships! most of the 'kids' that I grew up with left the state as young adults, not many around that I care to stay in touch with. You would think that with a graduating class of 32 that we would all be BFFs.
