Hi

Im new to the forum and happened upon it when searching for different brands of e-cigs.

About a month ago I purchase a Smoke 51 and absolutely love vaping. I see that there are all kinds of ecigs and am wanting to purchase another one. I know very little about the kind of cartridges that you have to fill yourself. Is this more cost effective than prefilled cartridges? The Smoke 51 is okay but the batteries dont seem to last long and I would say about 1 in 5 cartridges are roached before ever even using them. They taste burnt with the first drag. Most of the time as long as I use the 8mg cartridge I can get a throat hit with the 51 but am thinking by skimming through some of these posts that there is a much better product than this out there. Can someone give some suggestions of a good product with a great throat hit and thats fairly cost effective. The Smoke 51 says a cartridge is two packs but Im thinking no way --- may 15 at best.

I would be interested in anyones ideas and success with different ecigs than this.

Depending on how far you want to go with your vaping pleasure. I now use a 510 and have loved it. I drip e-liquid directly instead of fooling with the cartidges in order to get a more satisfying vape. (that's just me)
As for battery life, I finally purchased a Silver Bullet to nip that in the bud (so to speak) I can now go all day (and more) without worrying my battery will die.
Do some more research, ask more questions and then experiment to find what works for you. Opinions on this forum abound! Everybody has a favorite and may or may not work for you. All anyone can do is, read, consider and then make a choice.
Good luck and good Vaping.

You can refill the 2 peice cartomizers you are using much cheaper than buying prefilled ones. As to how long that will last in practical terms before the atty in them fails I couldnt say as I use a 3 peice system (510)

I can say that I have been using one of my 510 atty's here for 3 weeks now and it is still working, but if I only got a week out of one it would have paid for itself imho.

With DIY juice you could refill either style cart for pennies. With premade liquid it would be more, but may still be cheaper than the prefilled carts.

This thread has some good info on basic DIY costs: http://www.e-cigarette-forum.com/fo...o-you-like-money-why-everyone-should-diy.html (first numbers are for zero nic liquid, go further for examples with nic)

Basicly you can buy premixed eliquid with nicotiene from 50 cents (ballparking this 50 cents) to up to a dollar (or so) per ml, Or you can mix your own for much less. You results will vary depending on how high or low you want the final mg to be.

Granted, mixing your own, or refilling carts or cartomizers is NOT for everyone as some simply do not want to fiddle with it. There would also be a higher initial investment to buy flavorings, vg or pg and a flavorless high nic ejuice to use to mix down to a lower strength. Then perhaps some assorted bottles, droppers, pipettes etc or a diy mixing kit that comes with all the mad scientist type items we need. :)

If you are happy with your smoke51, stick with it, and try refilling to get more life out of the cartomizers would be my first suggestion. After that if you find the cartomizers dont last long enough before they burn out, you might try a different device at that point.

Hope this helps shed some light on your question.
