Okay that's the same as me too lol. Except I personally seem to get on just fine with 3mg. But everyone is different!

If you are considering DIY, once I finally get my nic base in (Nude Nicotine is mega delayed apparently..) I'll share any recipes that seem decent.

I do think you should try the koolada trick though at the very least, since it -is- menthol, but with the taste removed through science magic! It's very brilliant, I can't rave about it enough. And a 10ml bottle is only like two dollah.

From my perspective for reference:
30 drops in 10ml = strong level of cold (*brrr* like an ice cube)
15-20 drops in 10ml = regular level of cold (*ahhhh* like cold water)
Anything less is just "refreshing" to some degree
i get what you say about the Koolada,
the 'stanley clark's snake oil' has it,and indeed ,it was the first liquid i could bare besides the menthol.
the thing with the koolada, is that that it makes me cough really hard(maybe they put to much of it).
i also wish their liquid matched more their description, because i was surprised and glad to finally find something else i could vape, but instead of it being"citrus fruits with a touch of liquorice-anissed",all i could taste was an overly sweet nauseating strawberry taste.

@RadiusNick, if you do decide to try diy, here are 2 recipes that have worked well for me. I was also an almost 40yr menthol smoker.
This one was originally from a member SgtRock, and I have been using this as an all day vape since 2/15

All TFA
2% Menthol
7% Creme de Menthe
8% Sweet Cream
2% Koolada
1.5% Toasted Marshmallow
No steeping required, its ready to go when mixed.

And this one I have no idea where I got it from. But I played with it to get it where I wanted it. Also shake and vape.
12% Tfa Absinthe
8% Tfa Kiwi double
2% Tfa Citrus Punch
Tfa Menthol 2-3 drops per 10ml.
Tfa Hypno 3 drops per 10 ml.
Cap Orange Creamsicle 3 drops per 10ml.

Maybe this will help you get started.
Good luck.

Finding ready made juice is really hard, bajillion brands, inconsistency seems semi-common between batches, especially in the low-price ranges.. been dying to test out some Vape Wild samples, I think my taste buds are verging on flattened at the moment though :\

Also.. I feel like I watched a podcast where some dudes were talking about how some people can't deal with Koolada, and there is another brand or variety that's less harsh. The name escapes me right now. But, alternatives do exist if TFA's stuff is rough on your throat.

Oh oh. I know!

Frontier vapor

This is a vendor who mixes custom e-juice FOR you, so you can make it the way you want and they mix it, bottle it and ship it. It's like DIY without having to DIY.

You can order little 10ml bottles in whatever combo you like, with add ons and it's very detailed and kind of fun to play with.

They have REALLY good customer service too. Like crazy good. The guy who runs the place took a bunch of time to email me detailed information about how to figure out what to make, and offered advice and suggestions! Shipping was fast and everything was super affordable.

That is funny that you received the Tribeca today:thumbs:
I am very curious if you like it. Could you let me know after you tried it?:D
Thank you for the menthol tip! For sure I would love to try it, definitely when it comes from a real Menthol lover
it's been a long time since this post but i just recently came to finally taste the Tribeca and it was horrific :)
a strong chemical taste and a bad flavour.
but i got a pleasant surprise from an unexpected source, and that's a tobacco taste made by Blacknote which is the Sonata, i really enjoy it in the evenings and glad i can finally swap between two e-liquids.
hope ill find more i the future.
p.s I've tasted all the 'ensemble' from blacknote and they're all descent but got hooked just by the Sonata.

Part of your problem may be pure menthol masking the "taste" of nicotine that you are finding with other flavors. Also, different types of nicotine can be more or less harsh. You could try nic salt juices, I'd think.

Also, I'm pretty sure the only thing menthol really "goes well" with would be fruits, or tobaccos. I can't see a menthol working with say, tiramisu flavor or something like that. So if you do decide to DIY I would perhaps start with fruit and citrus flavors. It is true that you may have to experiment with your flavors to a degree (also perhaps steeping methods to eliminate harshness) you aren't necessarily looking to just pick a flavor from ANY AROUND, so at least if you didn't like a particular fruit, you could buy a very small "tester" bottle for DIY.

If you are having trouble finding storebought juices that suit you, IMO a little DIY is the way to go. You will have total control over your mixes, and can steep them how you want, for as long as you want, you even have different options for nicotine (if you want). Once you get going you may be surprised at what you can create yourself that really will suit your palate.

thanks for the useful and informative reply;

i haven't thought about the mint masking the nic "taste",
i have to check what those salt nic e-liquids are about.

DIY sounds like the way to go but for now i don't have the will to get into all it includes.
i think I'll continue buying(than throwing)ready liquids until perhaps i find a few that suits me.(already found a second one - BN sonata)

For me, an orange, a cream, and 1d/10ml of TFA Koolada gave me an Orangesicle. Then it was just a matter of how much orange and how much cream. I bet 7% and 3% respectively would be fairly close.

To switch from store to DIY does take a couple of 3 months because it is the tinkering to get perfection for the taste buds, but, even on the 2nd try per recipe, it was tolerable.

It is a whole lot cheaper, too. Chatting in the DIY Forum and you will get answers about which is the best orange or how is Bavarian Cream different than sweet cream.

Oh, I did not mention menthol since I don't really like it, but Koolada gives a sense of "frosty" and refreshing. Just me.
