Need some advice, considering upgrade!

Hello all, i have been stalking these forums for a year now and decided to sign up and post (yeah i know a little late lol). I was wondering if someone could grant me some advice as I am considering an upgrade to my setup and I need some input.

Originally I started with a protank and eVic, i quickly grew tired of the leaks and constant clogging of the coils on a daily basis as I vaped 100% vg at 6.5 watts. I enjoyed the flavor and throat hit from higher pg juices but vapor production was meh on that setup. As of 4 months ago I have been using strictly cartos in tanks and here is my current setup;

eVic I use with single coil 3ohm Smok cartos 3 hole in a pyrex 6ml tank. 50/50 juice at 6.5 watts. This is my backup / flavor rotation device.

My ADV setup is a ZMax v3, dual coil 1.5ohm carto 3 hole in pyrex 6ml tank. 70pg/30vg juices at 12-13 watts, panasonic ncr18650pf batts.

I am considering upgrading my ZMax and maybe dipping into the RBA world with a russian 91 or KFL+.

My questions are, what are your recommendations for a good device than can hit high voltages accurately with pwm using only a single 18650 (i do not want the drama of stacked 18350s) and how is the vapor n throat hit on kfl/russians? I know theyre all about flavor, however to satisfy me as an analog substitute throat hit and vapor are more on my priority list.

Based on my research ive really been considering an iTaste VTR or dipping i to the ProVari hype, and the russian 91. My only concern with the russian is plastic tank and acidic juices, i know they include the steel tank bit I chain vape 8ml a day and need to keep track.

Welcome to ECF. IMO, you can't really go wrong with the KFL, Kayfun 3.1 or the Russian 91%. All are pretty good with slight nuances that make them unique, but most of us agree that they're all good setups. The Provari is a solid mod...buy once, cry once as they say. There's plenty of other decent mods to look at out there...and if you trust your coil setups, many of the mechs out there will give you a good vape pretty consistently.

As for high voltages, most of that depends on your juice and how well it handles it. I don't see much sense in going high just for the sake of going high...you should where the juice tastes the best. (Not to mention, the inherent relationship between resistance and voltage.) IMO, a dual coil (or more) is going to give you more of a heated vape than just adding more voltage to the mix.

Good luck and welcome to ECF! Do check out the rebuildables forum for plenty of recommendations!

Revco, let me clarify as my post was a tad general. My concern for hitting voltage accurately is more on the 6-7w per coil side of things. I fimd all juices are perfect between 6-7w per coil for me. My issue is based off PBusardo review of ZMax not hitting high enough on dual coil 1.5s. I like a good warm vape with decent TH and vapor at 12-13w on a dual coil. However I noticed with my ZMax that ots only good until my battery dips to 3.95ish volts and it starts lagging behind. I blame tbat purely on the cheap PWM kick in the ZMax. The issue is consistent with all 4 of my panny NCR18650PF and PDs. I am not trying to reach 14/15w and push past the limits of a 18650. Thats why I want to try a good RBA, as I assume a well built single coil in a quality RBA will provide everything I need without kickimg the batteries amd pwm chips ....

Sooo i pulled the trigger on a EHPro Kayfun 3.1 clone and some BioWick. Guess ill play with a clone before I dish out 100+ on a authentic KFL or Russian. Now to learn to make coils

Like you, I switched over to an EHPro Kayfun 3.1 after quickly growing tired with the hassles of the protanks. I like the Kayfun 3.1 clone slightly better than my newer authentic KFL+ V2. The reason is the 3.1 has a reservoir where any fluid that floods the chamber collects and stays until I decide to empty it. The other KFL+V2 seems to leak a drop or two through the side air hole after filling. This may seem minor but I like "plug and play" rather than wiping off a drip or two after filling.

Yeah that is why i like carto tanks...very maintanance free, once you prime it youre good for a week outside of refilling. However i wanted to try something different. I think ill stick to cartos for work (im a field tech so im on the go 10hrs a day) and a 6ml tank without fuss does the job. But at home id like something more "fun" and flavorful

I only started vaping about 2 months ago. I have only been using clearomizers because I dont like to constantly refill with juice. Is it possible to use a clearomizer with new mechanical mods out there? Can i use a clearomizer with Kamry K101? What ohm is reccomended for coils? I like the feel of the iclear 30b...can i use this on mechanical mods?
